Hi!! I'm new to posting here. I've been reading for weeks. Been in love with chams since I saw the first one. It's been about ten years since I cared for one and I'm getting my first one this next week!!

I am open to any advice that help me through the first few weeks.

Thank you in advance!!

Hi Herplover26,welcome to this great forum, please be prepare your feeders, supplments, and your cage set up prior for your beautiful cham arrive in its new home, enjoy the moment.

Ok I will do that. That's the kind of advice I was looking for.

Would you suggest cup feeding so I know exactly how much he's eating?

I cup feed, but it isn't necessary. How old is your cham going to be when you get him home? If he is still young (under 4 months or so) and in a large enclosure you may want to cup feed just so you can monitor how much is being eaten and make sure that the proper supplements are being ingested. What type of feeders and supplements are you going to be using? I would recommend to vary the feeders as much as you can and of course to provide the feeders with a very nutritious gutload.

He is 4 months old. I am going to use gut loaded dusted crickets to start with.

You may need a few days just to get the basking site temperature dialed in, and of course humidity. The more time the better. Are you using live plants? Are you using an automated misting system?

I am using pothos plants. I am planning to manually mist unless I'm told not to.

Told not to??? By Whom? You'll be misting forever :ROFLMAO:. You may want to invest in a misting system unless you are home enough to provide enough moisture throughout the day. Makes life a bit easier ;).

That's what I meant... If I am told to get an automated one, I may do so.

Congratulations on your new family member. I have only been a member of this forum for a few weeks, but I can't help but notice the number of new members. Are chameleons getting more popular? They sure are fun to watch, I am sure you will enjoy your chameleon immensely.
