Inca the Brazilian Rainbow Boa

Just closing up the reptile shed for the night and my Brazilian rainbow boa Inca was out and about-had to take a few photos and share to those snake lovers out there,
She ( never actually had her sexed but she looks like a she to me!) is stunning- she really is as orange as the photos- I'd actually say more orange- She's 2 years + , quite small but these are not juv colours so I feel lucky she is so highly coloured and patterned- anyway I love her and she's never bitten or been hissy.

She is -thank you- I always wanted a rainbow boa all my life and a Jacksons chameleon, i got both now, took a while but I got there:)
Good luck with yours, I didn't get a baby- they are a bit nervous-i.e snappy! and I didn't want that so she was a few feet long and has never snapped at me, i love her to bits.

Thanks! The only thing is they're illegal here which is SUPER lame but I know a few people who have one and have seen them for sale in our classifieds and if I had the space I woulda snatched her up. so there's definitely ways around it lol but not until we move in a couple years and have the space will I be looking more seriously. But it will happen!

I didn't know there would be country's where they would be illegal, makes sense I suppose, I'm in the u.k so no problems with them breeding in the wild, where abouts in the world are you?
Her sheen is unbelievable, I want to make her an even more naturalistic viv but the only trouble is how do you find them, don't want to go poking around in earth etc and bump into a big bitey thing

It's a beauty...at what age would you see her/his adult coloration? I have GTP it a girl had her check by a vet she going on 3 and she won't reach adult colors tell about 4 are 5...I had seen other photos of your boa and the colors are amazing...:D

The babies are usually more highly coloured or more orange I think and I believe the colour goes a bit browner as they get older- but she is at least 2 so i think if she was going to dull she would of done it by now- may be wrong though,- I dont really know but on a site of someone that breeds morphs of BRBs he has some high contrast very orange stock and I feel she's as bright and good as them- not your normal- although that might just be because i'm so proud of her ,
The other one I had was so brown you could barely see his eye patterns. I should get her probed I guess although I dont need to know what sex she is.
Thanks Felix- hope you are well and the boy :)
P.S I'd love a GTP - do you ever handle - i know they are fun!:ROFLMAO:

HE'LL NO!!!! There are the one of the meanest S.O.B. next to a emerald tree boa snakes you can have....But I just love theme...

That is a stunning snake, really beautiful, love those coils, just love them, I've seen a couple of photos with handling( although I guess they show you the handling pictures but not the after pictures:D:eek:) but I know their reputation for being the meanest around and Ive seen their teeth! Pretty scary but so beautiful, yours is a very nice animal.
I had a d'alberts Python once, that was mad, it would sense you in the room and you could hear it striking, got out one day, that was fun!

Thanks @ZacharyLeesWife
She is a sweetie
I was that actually unaware of 'booping the snoot' but thanks to google and the image attached below I see there's a whole culture of people poking their fingers at snakes lol,:D
I'm going to pass on it though, sticking my finger that close to a face full of very sharp teeth is not my idea of fun :)
However @savage13 do you want to give it a go with your GTP , could be messy :ROFLMAO:

He looks fabulous @Twitchet, don't think you ever mentioned him before.
I love boa's... Except for them cuban tree boa's, got bit in the thumb once by one of those and had a numb feeling in my thumb for over a year after that... the bastard didn't want to let go, felt like half an hour before my colleague got him off.... I rather get spit in the eye by a cobra (that actually happened) than have a boa on my thumb again.

So no booping for you then? @Remkon :ROFLMAO: That sounds very very nasty- think that would put me off for life!
I'm afraid I take no chances with my snakes- not scared of them but know they are wild animals that can easily mistake my fingers for mice!
I saw a person advertising to take his animals to kids parties etc- allsorts of small and large creatures- one of his adverts had a rainbow boa 'kissing' the nose of a child-
literally touching a child's nose:eek::eek: and you think Jeez What COULD go wrong?:ROFLMAO:

No booping for me!
There actually is one species of snake I would want (Elaphe taeniura) but that isn't ever gonna happen because I don't want my wife to abandon me.

You can actually remove a snake fairly easily from your fingers by sliding a spoon in between the jaw and finger... provided the spoon is big enough and you have it by hand...;)

You can hire reptiles/snakes for your bday party here too, they even bring a Veiled chameleon which I think is just wrong.

I once almost had a yellow anaconda trying to give me a kiss in the face, luckily my cat like reflexes saved me from that...
Pro tip: Don't keep your aggressive snakes in enclosures that are on head height!

I have given my share of snake-stories to children when I worked at the reptile zoo in the past, we would allow the children to touch the snake after the story but would always keep away the head, we also mostly used rat snakes or python regius as they were more reliable than most other snakes.

I had a yellow anaconda - never ever again and its the only snake I look at and shudder- It was aggressive! I thought my D'alberts was but not compared to the yellow.
I didnt know you worked at a zoo- you lucky thing- that must of been amazing- what did you work with?
I love the beauty snake- very nice- I just have the corn and boa at the moment- I may accidentally get another;) -
but I'm sure it will be a totally necessary purchase LOL @ZacharyLeesWife cough cough Gecko ;)
Hope he's doing well, I'd be the same-they are cute little things and perfectly boopable!
thank God my reptile funds are limited- I'd be accidentally buying reps at the time!

Him was a total accident! My cresties are such sweet darling little creatures, but my Grandis would rather leave them tails behind before getting scratches. Jennay is better than Forrest, I barely even see him unless I have waxworms.
