Incubator from think geek HELP

Try using the search button. It will be your best friend. This question has been asked many times before.

It all depends on the size of the container you put your eggs in and how many eggs you put in each container.
If you use the 4.5 inch X 1.75 deli cups, you will be able to get 24 containers in the incubators.

how many eggs should i put in each of these cups? one egg per container? when you fit 24 in did u stack them ?

If you use round deli cups you'll be wasting space... I would use the $2 pen container from Target. they work great.

Does anyone have this? I am considering buying it and I just wanna know how well it works. Thanks

I think it works really well. The only set back which I dont see as a problem is that there is a 4 degree fluctuation in temp. If I set mine on 66 it fluctuates between 66 and 70 degrees. I really think if you are incubating panther or veiled eggs it is not worth it unless your house gets really hot or cold during certain seasons. There has been countless success hatching panthers in closets. If anything I would use a hovabator for panthers and veileds. I got the think geek fridge for montane species. So far I have hatched two clutches of K. tavetana eggs:)

I have two incubators and divide the clutches up so one incubator isn't crammed full of containers. I find that the air circulation is better and temperatures are more consistent and humidity is more even when you leave some room. I incubate up to 6 clutches or so (small species, small numbers) in each incubator. Six clutches could mean up to 12 small deli containers.

I just love the incubators!!!

I have two of these, and just hatched out my first clutch of Veiled eggs. All 50 hatched. I have noticed a very slight variation in the temps, but keep a separate therm/hyrom inside. The glass front door makes it a dream for monitoring, and if you use the clear deli cups you can watch them hatch without ever opening the door! It even has a light for night time checking!

I love mine... :)

These fridge / incubators do work really well. We have tested ours for the last 6 months now, and have hatched out a few clutches of different reptiles. The one thing to keep in mind - the one we carry at LLL is 20% larger than the one on thinkgeek. People often think they are the same one. Ours is 25 liter capacity, and the one on think is 20. We also sell extra shelves for our unit as well to offer more places to stack egg containers. Just some shameless self promotion since ours is not much more than this, but you do get a few extra features, and extra space too!

Either way, they work well, so enjoy, and good luck incubating!

Thanks everyone for the info i think I'm gonna go ahead and get one. I use the top of my closest right now and it works great but I'm starting to get more and more eggs and I would like one of these because of the window view and the temp adjustment. Thanks!

I purchased the one you guys sell. I didn't know you sold shelves!? Sweet!

For people using either LLL's incubator or the Think Geek fridge... Any device that maintains heat, say a room or a space like a fridge, does a better job if there is more mass in the room or fridge. So in other words don't put 20 eggs in one or two deli cups and set the temp and walk away... the temp will be allll over the place. The whole 'more mass' part works because the objects in the fridge maintain their heat. You can this by placing a jug of water in the fridge or.. more if needed. Currently I have one jug of water and my temps move a bit. I find it has more to do with ambient temps outside of the fridge that make the temp inside change. I believe this has to do with the technology being used to heat and cool..... along with the ambient air effecting the inside of the fridge (obviously).

Going to add another jug of water.

I used foil to cover the window on the door.

I use a indoor/outdoor temp meter to monitor the highs, lows and current temp in the incubator. This is critical for all incubators. I found the temp display on the front of the incubator is kinda..... junk? It doesn't read the same as my probe will indicate. So I just played around till I got the temp I needed. I couldn't get the display to show... the flash must have been whiting it out. You can see the probe on the side of the fridge in the first pic. I wonder if I would get a better reading if I placed it on the shelf in the middle of the fridge... hmmmmm :)
