Indoor enclosure near window

First off, the Cham won't benefit from the sun at all next to a window because UVB cannot pass through glass....unless its special glass made to let UVB pass through it, but no one has that in a house lol...., second, if the enclosure is glass, then sun could easily cause it to overheat immensely , other then that, I don't see an issue with it, mines near a window.....but not next to it, my Cham loves to look outside the nearby window. It also provides more visual light, and also helps the Cham get a sense of daytime / nighttime.

This is something that is really good if done properly, even if they don't get direct sunlight exposure. At least, they get the natural schedule of the sun, and if you open the window, then they still get some natural sunlight. It's not like living outside, but i think it's a good start!

What you have to worry the most about having an enclosure next to a window is temperature and cold air entering the house. Since most windows are not perfectly isolated, and since windows are also a good way to loose heat, you have to make sure that it doesn't get any "wind" inside, that the temperatures are good enough, and then it should be fine! :)

What i suggest is to put your enclosure a few inches away from the window, like 8 to 12 inches away. This way, you will still have to measure everything and make sure no wind gets in, but the risks are lesser that way.

EDIT: Correcting a few things

No, UVB will not pass through glass.... BUT Having natural bright sunlight will still benefit the cham.

Good points made here and I agree. I have a free range near a window and I will find Henry looking outside sometimes. He doesn't spend a ton of time looking out... but it is neat to watch cause you'll see him lean forward looking down at people and then lean back suddenly as if he were spying and almost caught :D

Just be aware that even though UVB cannot pass through the glass window, the heat will. Putting the cage nearby window will have an effect on the husbandry's overall temperature. So, adjust accordingly the wattage of the heat lamp you are using to achieve the desired temp for your chameleon

Summoner, you should definetly take a picture when he's looking outside and write "im watching you" haha
