Interesting Raiden Faly

neither can i... now that i think about it i cant wait til he breeds, with my apollo female, the reds will be killer :D

My ambanja comment was based on you saying since there is more than one locales genetics involved you can see the occasional oddball faly....like the ambanja genes are just sitting back there and are waiting to pop out on the unsuspecting breeder:eek::D:D

Never said it was...

Yes I can have it both ways because that is the way micro evolution works:cool: (which goes all the way back to Darwin) A long time ago probably many locales washed up on a beach on the island of Nosy Faly, probably during a big storm where they were blown, floated, set adrift on logs or swam etc. Once on the island they procreated and specific traits were able to provide a reproductive advantage and genetic drift was started...as they genetically drifted they developed a specific head and color type (there has to be something in the genetic code of panthers that allows for this very readily compared to other chameleon species). Once this genetic drift and genetic isolation happens these genes are "replaced" over hundreds of generations. Genetic code doesn't just keep adding up, being stored and will pop out every once in a while. There is a specific amount of code and as the code is isolated and mixed in isolation it becomes more similar.

You cant say with certainty what a pardalis will produce that has been crossed X generations back. No studies have been done on that to date. Until then its your opinion and all speculation.....

The genetic code does accumulate and save everything though. That's why you can still find all the genes in a chicken that code for more reptilian traits, like teeth, scales, claws, and a long tail - because it's all still there. You just have to turn them on again (I still have my fingers crossed for "chickenasaurus!). Errors during division sometimes delete chunks of it, but in general, a lot of info is just stored away and inactive in the genome.

Uh, you guys know that sea levels have risen and fallen many times over the last 4.5 billion years, right? The proximity of Nosy Faly to the Ambato Peninsula suggests to me that there was once a land bridge and that Faly has, many times, not been a "Nosy" before. Meaning, pardalis have been in/on that location for thousands, if not millions, of years with genes flow across that peninsula rather than storm castaways floating over every once in a while.

Oh, and does anyone have a reference for blue Nosy Be's come from a different part of the island than green ones? I've heard that before and believe it's not true. People who have visited the island multiple times say the greens and blues occur in the same places and that some times all you can find are green males and other years/seasons blues are there.

I do as well.
I think the OP's odd ball one is very cool, and i would even consider breeding it simply to gt that pattern again. but thats me. i like strange things.

I have the typical red white and blue faly. hes very cool looking as well.

and i think that doing what you said is just fine. sell them as falys, but let the buyer know.. thats all you can do.

hey cammimom i really want to see your "typical" red white an blue faly..
alot say they have the red white and blue ones lets see him please do you have a sweet pic of him?

I believe it was Danibugs faly. From chameleoncompany...

i know where it came from.. she made the statement that shes got a typical red white an blue one i wanna see what a typical faly looks like.
I guess i could go dig an find a pic just figured shed have one to post here when were talkin about falys

First. i have posted several threads, search glacier, you can see them.

or find new faly, oh yea thread by me.

I am not going to post photos in this thread, as this thread is merely for the nice debate and differing opinions on the OPs faly, and varioud genetic topics.
and if you are poking at the fact i said typical, i was merely trying to say that most people say falys should be red, white and blue.

so im not really sure waht you are getting at here.

im not saying all falys look the same, because, obviously that isnt the case.

so, if you find my threads, and have an issue with what i siad, you are welcome to Pm me, as I do not want to have a debate on this thread, as hoj has already stated it was closed once for problems.
