Right now I've got him in an Exo Terra tall, although it's not as optimal as a screen cage, I live in a dry area and the humidity is hard to keep. And the airflow is nice in the tank. When he gets a little larger, he's going in a huge screen cage. I didn't feel that putting a small cham in a huge cage would be the best option. I'm taking him up to the vet tomorrow, he already pooped too. First thoughts?

He looks pretty good for a petco chameleon - Doesn't seem to be dehydrated or tiny - I tend to think they usually sell them too young. Sounds like you did some research so that's good - One of the major problems with chameleons and the big stores is they give so much wrong information- Check the care sheets in the Resources section above for the right care .. and let us know if you have any questions .. (not me I know nothing about the care of veiled, but there are a lot of people who will help you out)

Looks pretty good to me. Does he have the little spurs on his back feet to determine male or is that what they told you at Petco. I was just in there getting dog food yesterday and I saw a teeny tiny Veild. No uvb and I got the manager and he told me the uvb was burnt out for a week and one was on order. I said you cannot take one out of your stock? Uh, no we cannot do that! Also, the manager said he had no idea how to tell a male from a female so I showed him how.

Yeah I've done plenty of research on these guys before I purchased, I also researched Jacksons and panthers, so I'm pretty versed (book knowledge) in chameleon care. :) just figured I can always learn more! He doesn't sit still to let me look for spurs. I'll try in a week when he settles down in his new home.

Yeah this is the first time she sat still enough for me to check. I'm positive its female. I call things 'he' before I know for sure

As long as you are ok with it and you weren't sold a female as a male.
you would not be the first! People just assume when they tell you the sex, they know what they are talking about because they work there and should know..

it's all alright. Not rejecting her for being who she is xD I'm just a little worried about egg laying, but that's a little ways away, I can prepare. My pet bird is female, and she lays too, so it'll be like a family tradition! XD haha
