It's been a very long time since I've been on this site. I just wanted to share a photo of my new Verrucosus Chameleon I acquired a couple weeks ago. I have never kept this species before, but I am absolutely in love with him!!! He is an import. He has had Panacur and Flagyl treatments (had them already when I got him from the reptile store). I will probably still have a fecal done soon just to be sure there's nothing else he needs. I'm new to imports from Madagascar so I'm definitely open to any further suggestions! Other than that he is doing fantastic. He eats every day from my fingers and also drinks several times a day from a hand held mister (pump type which I can simulate a very gentle rainfall). He literally comes to the sprayer to drink. Please know I'm well aware not to spray directly into his mouth or over do the hand watering in that way. I have read this species can be extremely shy but he is not. Although he is cautious, he does not hide or run when I approach the cage - he seems to have learned already that I might have something to eat or drink! I have only handled him once since I got him and he did extremely well - no aggression, although I have no plans for frequent handling of course. I have also included a photo of his cage. Although this is not a screen cage, 75% of the top is screen, and there is a 1/4 inch gap all around the front door which allows air to enter at the bottom. Also there is a small "computer" fan drawing air out above the heat light and aiding in air exchange. I have had extremely good luck with this type of setup here in Arizona where I would otherwise have a very difficult time maintaining any kind of humidity levels with a screen cage. This cage is larger than it appears since the front window is not the full size of the inside dimensions! Sorry for the poor picture but it was taken with a cell phone. You can see him basking. He is approximately 16 1/2 to 17" long, so I'm hoping he's under two years of age and has quite a bit of time left, since this is at the low end of their size range. Anyways thanks for looking!
