When was the last time he shed? Do you have substrate on the bottom?

He hasn't shed while being with me i just got him about 2 weeks ago. I just took out mulch it had on the bottom today when i cleaned his cage and put paper towels. It's only on his face though

Interesting. Could you fill out the How to ask for help form? May be if we know your husbandry, we can figure out the reason.

They will get black on their face and the outline of their casque like that. I am not sure about that black spot on the bridge of his nose though. It looks a little odd.

Is the basking light close to the screen it could be a burn , do you give him bottled water? If not hope you condition your water. Also do you clean cage regularly

i think his eyes look slightly sunken in on the second picture, try giving him more water this is a sign of dehydration...maybe a shower just to make sure its nothing from the mulch that may have gotten on him and irritated him. Is he rubbing his head on anything? were is the basking light located?

Conditioning your water isn't necessary unless your ph is way off or it is very high in metals. I give mine tap water and I have never had any problems.

It is necessary especially if you live in city areas the pathogens in the water can cause serious problems if you don't you should , better to be safe than sorry and bottled water is the best bet

People with tons more experience than I have use tap water everyday with no problems. Like I said I have never used anything but and have kept reptiles successfully for many years with normal and above life expectancy. There is nothing wrong with using tap water, and I don't know what that has to do with black spots on his face. There is no need in giving information on here that isn't useful to the problem at hand. If the chameleon has an immune deficiency, then I would have no problem with providing bottled water, or suggesting that someone do so as a "safe bet" but that isn't necessary for a healthy chameleon. If you have information on specific pathogens in tap water that cause problems for chameleons then I would love for you to share that with us as I have never run accross such information.

I've always used tap water for my reptiles and fish, and drink it myself and have never had a problem. I have town water.

It's more likely for there to be some problem with husbandry than for the water to be a problem. I suggest filling out the "how to ask for help."

How's your UVB, temperature, humidity, supplementation schedule?
Has he ever been to the vet's and had a fecal exam done?

since 99% of bottle water is FILTERD local water and there is zero difference between the makeup of "bottled" vs what comes out of ones tap at least in the US.. forget buying bottled.. by a basic britta filter.. If you must.. but most bottled water is the same stuff that comes out of ones tap.. at a inflated price..
Chlorine is a possible concern, so is fluoride.. but not pathogens..

Now if you have a in home standard water conditioner, not a RO system.. not sure how or if it will effect a cham.. but the salt in that will kill your orchids and effect your plants big time.. FWIW..
