Is lilly gravid? Need help....

so these r the signs i've seen so far...
#1. turned blackish for a few hours while her hammock
#2. been at the bottom of cage a couple times (on the exoterra dirt)
#3. for about 5 days did not eat much of anything
#4. i woke up at 7:00 this morning and she was awake (bed:10pm wakes:10am)
#5. being aggressive toward us
#6. had a very small shed this week

we got her at Petsmart and had 2 veileds in the same cage and didn't know what sex they were,so could she have mated, getting ready for an infertile clutch,or not gravid at all? FYI Lilly is 5-6 months old

Hi and welcome to the forum...its nice to have you here :)

Please fill in the how to ask for help form...from your first post its to vague to say if she is gravid or not and please post a pic of her.

If you are unsure on how to do both please let me know so I can help you with that.

You will have to do a lot of research on raising babies as its expensive but can be done if you have your Dad's support (both financial and time)

I have attached another thread on the cost of raising the babies for you and your Dad to read as its a big commitment and also jannb's blog on laying bins as you should have one for her gravid or not at that age.

But lets get it figured out first if she is or isn't gravid before putting the horse before the cart.

Mealworms aren't a good food for all the time, I'd recommend gutloaded crickets or dubia roaches.

Do you use calcium dusting with or without d3? You need without for every day and WITH d3 twice a month.

Does she have somewhere to escape the heat? As in about 70 at the bottom? 90 is a bit high.

Handling isn't the best to do, try to minimize handling as best as you can.

You have not filled in all the answers...but you are doing well :)

What cage do you have her in (Glass or screen) and what size is it?

How are you measuring temperatures with a digital or analogue gauge? If its not digital then your temps can be really out and 90 is way to high for her to start.

Where are you located?

Do you have any plants in her cage? If so real and or fake?

A lot of her behaviour that you have posted in your first post can be environmental and not her being gravid...also are you certain of her age?

Gravid or not she will still need that egg laying bin sooner or later.

Please post a pic of her and her enclosure so we can all get a better idea on her age and your husbandry.

my crickets died last week, with d3 for the times where she would eat this week (ONCE),she has a couple of branches and fake leaves toward the bottom of her cage

cage:glass
analogue thermometer
GA(feels like FL)
fake plants

not sure of age but pet stores usually sell them at 4-5 months and she was there for 1 month so i was guessing

You are most likely cooking her....you need to get the temps down and get a digital thermometer to get an accurate reading. Those analogue things can and are way off so it maybe hotter than 90 in there especially when its around 90 degrees in Georgia.

She is probablly digging in that dirt trying to escape the heat especially if she has no real plant coverage.

She maybe ready to lay eggs (depending on her age) but she is most likely just stressed and showing these symptoms from being too hot and having no where to escape the heat.

She needs a laying bin, we need pics of her and her enclosure as some of your answers are still vague ie....how big is her enclosure?

We can only take guesses without all the correct info.

We're trying to help, it'd make it alot easier if you would give us all the info and pics. Size of the glass enclosure? You need alot better of a thermometer because it could be hotter than 90 and in a glass enclosure it's basically putting her in an oven.

thank you all (dad with me helping post pics) B.
looking forward to your help with my q's. FYI My Dad and I did alot of research and knew there was a lot of responsibility that goes in to taking care of her (Dad told me that is why he brought her for me) I promise to take very good care of her. TY again for any help
