Is shower method a good idea because of the chemicals in shower water?

I was just wondering. My boy seems like he hasnt been drinking as much so i thought i'd give him a shower method.

What chemicals? We wouldn't recommend it if it would kill your chameleon.

thats what i first thought but it actually works ive givin my cham like 3 showers the past few weeks and i think the reason people dont use tap water cause it has hard water and can dry up in enclosures

Well there is chlorine in tap water first of all.

The shower method is fine to potentially rehydrate your cham. Unless you live in a third world country with contaminated water, I do not forsee hydration showers harmful to your cham.

If all you were giving your chameleon was tap water from the shower I would want you to check your water supply to make sure it's good...some tap water is fine.

If your tap water is a problem (mine is fluoridated...something that is quite common) you will want to limit how much tap water you use.

That said, fluoridation is a long term issue...if you have a short term hydration problem, it's probably worth it to use the tap water.

In my opinion I don't like the shower idea because of the stress it may cause the animal, he/she is dehydrated and obviously not happy so let's take them out of there home and stick them in new territory where they won't deal comfortable, I say just up the misting and ad a dripper to there homes

My guy actually hates being sprayed. But he loves showers though lol. I just stick half of a fake ficus treenon the shower floor and he just climbs sround that. He'll even sit on the bottom of the tree and stand in the running water xD
