Is Simba's humidity ok now?

As some of you know, I bought Simba a new Hygrometer as I wasn't convinced on the readings I was getting with the old one.

Well, I've installed the hygrometer and now the readings are:

Max = 88% (During Misting)
Min = 34% (It gradually comes down from 88% after the misting period)

Is this ok?

Thanks in advance?

The low is a little out of range, but I think these numbers look good, as long as the RH isn't sitting sub 40% for long periods.

The min humidity number is the lowest reading the hygrometer took, so i'm assuming this is from overnight, when the enclosure obviously dries out completely.

He had a 10 minute misting at 8am this morning, then a 5 min misting at 11am, then another 10 min misting at 2pm today. Humidity now (at 3:35pm) is 42% which has gradually come down from the 88% while mister was in action. Next misting is at 5pm for 5 mins.

Do you think I need to add a misting for a couple of mins in between the above times to keep the RH up, or is it ok for the humidity to go as low as high 30s to low 40s in between mistings?

Want to get this right! ;)

I'd ideally want it a bit more like 45 to 50 at the low point, but you could add more mistings or more live plants to help.

Hmmmm now its reading 48%

Hahaha!! Typical!

I think I'll keep an eye on it over the next day or so and if its dropping too low between mistings, I'll add the extra ones.

I can't fit any more live plants in his enclosure LOL There's already 2 big ones in there.

Don't mind that the lowest reading from overnight as his enclosure is supposed to dry out overnight anyway.

It's the RH I need to keep an eye on.

Thanks for the help ;)

Keep the advice coming :)

hey im jw, do u free range your feeders in your cage. i have a similar cage and i cant free range bugs due to no screen

Hi,

Occasionally, a couple of locusts might manage to get out of the Sprite feeder bottle, which I just leave for him, as I think it's good enrichment for him to have to hunt a couple every now and again.

I have a mesh panel in the top of the enclosure and the vents are covered in mesh.

The locusts can also climb up the decor paper (even tho it looks shiny and slippery  )

They can't escape though, no holes big enough for them to get through.

They also climb all over the leaves/branches/vinesif they do get out, so it's definitely possible to free range insects if thats what you want to do??
