:p, sorry sorry It had to be done.

EDIT: Probably should have put this in Lizard Lounge, My apologies, move if its a problem.

Oh dear God it's made it's way to the Forum, lol.

I am going to make a game similar, but instead of pokemon, you have to find and collect various chameleon species.

I'll play that game!!

Just petition for a chameleon Pokemon! :p

I cant beleive you dont like Pokemon, I could of swore we are similar ages, it came out when we were kids :). My daughter wacthes some pokeknockoff, called Yokai Wacth. She asked me the other day do you like pokemon more than Yokai Wacth. I said yes, when I was a kid Pokemon was the thing, I love that the game only has the 150, I will be okay with some of the newer ones (like up to Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire), but once they get to like Pokemon Black, Im going to be lost.

lol @cyberlocc , but NOOOO more Pokemon!!

I find it crazy how I have heard more about this Pokemon game on social media than I have about the police shooting in Dallas...
Okay so I can look at your profile and see you were a teen when Pokemon came out, so you cant tell me there is not a nostalgia factor there. I see alot of adults defending it, stating that is the biggest thing. It shoots you back to being a kid and wanting to catch Pokemon in the real world and how cool that would have been. Now we have that opportunity :). I am 30 so Pokemon was defiantly a big deal in my childhood, though you may have missed it :).

Its nice to be able to have something that brings you back to childhood. something to remind you the fun days of life and escape from the harsh reality's of being an adult here and there. Plus I work from near home have a short commute and with the family and all, my social life is in the trash. Its getting me out walking at night doing things I normally wouldn't meeting people I wouldn't and out of my bubble :). Though it shouldn't downplay real life issues I agree with that :), but I have no skins in that game or anyway to change it so why bother about it?

I feel like a lot of stuff on the news is like that. Just get people hyped up over something they can do nothing about, then you worry for what? That is why I try to refrain from watching the news lol.

@cyberlocc I missed the Pokemon craze... Too old I guess.... lol.. Hey, I'm not downplaying it at all either. If you like it and you have fun doing it, then do it. Thats how I feel. I just find it funny at times what blows up in social media and what doesnt...

I hear ya about the social life being squashed!! 3 kids will do that to ya. That's why I'm big into my reptile hobbies and BBQ'n! :D

Um... gonna sound like a nerd here.... but.... there actually IS a Pokémon that is a chameleon....

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Kecleon_(Pokémon)

It has the special abilities "Color Change" and "Protean" ...... how ironic. :ROFLMAO:

It was first seen in Generation 3 of Pokémon which included games such as the Ruby, Sapphie, and Emerald Versions.

I definitely do not play the Pokémon GO thing that is out, but I know a lot of people that do. Not going to lie, I played Pokémon a lot when I was younger, just like many adults today did. I'm now 27 years old. I played and owned Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Versions. Got super burned out after that, as there are so many versions now and so many more Pokémon to catch. I had a heck of a time trying to collect them all way back in the day, as you had to have different versions of the game in order to catch them all because not all Pokémon can be found on one game and you need multiple versions to collect them all. I owned the versions I needed to collect myself because it was sometimes hard to have a friend who played the game you needed a Pokémon from so that you could use a link cable and trade with them.... so I played them all myself and traded with myself. I was a nerd, I know.

I don't get it with the Pokémon GO stuff though. You walk around, find a Pokémon, and have to catch it. There's no battle with it or nothing, you just sling balls at it from what I understand. What's the fun in that? The only fighting you do is against other players or at GYM spots. In the original Pokémon games, you had to battle the Pokémon down to low health in order to catch it unless you got super lucky with a crappy ball while it was at full health, or you had a Master Ball. That was the best part, so why no battles in this new app stuff? In Pokémon GO, you also have to catch multiple creatures in order to evolve that specific creature (at least that's how it was explained to me). For example, you have to catch multiple Rattata in order to evolve Rattata into Raticate...... what happened to leveling them up and having them evolve? Is there such thing as the Leaf Stone or the Fire Stone to evolve stuff still? How's that work with the Pokémon that needed the stones to evolve in other games? (Please don't explain it to me, I am just making a statement. I really don't want to know how it all works.... lol)

I really don't get it. It's nothing like the other Pokémon games, and I guess that's why I don't understand why so many adults play it. To each his own I suppose.

I thought this was pretty funny though. I had a feeling someone was gonna pull a joke like this eventually. :p

I personally don't like Pokemon go either. I got it for a bit and played it for like a day, but its nothing like Pokemon and doesn't stay true at all. Supposedly pedophiles have been using it too as a way to abduct kids.

There were some teenagers, I forget where, but they were luring people using the game and then robing them at gunpoint.

Well see you say you dont want it explained so how can I explain lol!

I wont explain how the evolution with the stone and stuff work, just the general gist.

So the reason you dont fight pokes is the game is basically a reskin of Ingress, which is a similar game. this is just a Pokemon themed version of that.

As of today, you can only catch and battle gyms that is correct. That is because, it was a reskin and there will be more to come. Battling Friends, Raiding (fighting legendary's in very large group events, if you succeed you get the legendary.), and trading are all coming. Just not there right now, they can already barely handle the server load with just catching.

Right now the game is the OG 150, that will also change and more will be added until all of them are there.

The reason for the non battle catching is its easier, set up for more causal players. It is a phone game, and even the battling system when you do battle is not that great.

What you have to remember is this is not a Pokemon Game, this is a Pokemon themed game. The obstacle of this game is to get out of your house and out of your daily bubble. Go places you never have, see things you never knew were there, travel, make friends with people you would not have existed otherwise.

Lets face it, your 27, I am 30. Our generation is stuck on devices, whether it be computer/phone/tablet ect. Socialization for us has became Facebook and Twitter, no one goes outside no one talks to real live people anymore. This game was made to combat that, it tricks you into thinking you are on your device so you are comfortable, and it puts you in situations you would not have been otherwise.

In reality that is its goal, the CEO said that. The goal of the game at face value is to catch Pokemon, but the hidden agenda is much deeper, its to get people socializing, participating, exploring, in Real Life, with the app as motivation to do so.

I personally don't like Pokemon go either. I got it for a bit and played it for like a day, but its nothing like Pokemon and doesn't stay true at all. Supposedly pedophiles have been using it too as a way to abduct kids.

That is because you are looking at it from face value and not seeing the deeper meaning. I have walked more in the past week, then I have all year!, I visited a gorgeous trail on the Mogollon Rim yesterday and see the most breathtaking view.

For 30 years, I have lived here off and on, and even though that trail is about 2 blocks from where I have lived off and on m,y whole life. I have not once been there, if not for this game I likely would have passed away and never seen this gorgeous view that people travel across the US to see daily.

The reality is, people in there bubble of life, dont care or pay attention to things like that. Once more there is a pokestop next to my business, And poke stops are based on landmarks ect. So anyway this poke stop is based on a building beside me has a gorgeous mural painted on its side, I pass this everyday, but if you would have asked me what it was I couldn't of told you. Thanks to this game, now I can, along with all the other art, and cool things around me that I never knew were there and likely never would have.

Made a new post for these issues.

Supposedly pedophiles have been using it too as a way to abduct kids.

I hope they realize they are going to catch 30 year olds lol. Not many children are playing this game, It REQUIRES a smart phone with a 4g internet connection. 10 Year olds shouldnt be walking around with smart phones with 4g anyway. That said there is a million other ways for that to be done. People want to bash the game, and they will find any excuse to do so. Its ridiculous.

If that same 10 year old has a phone with 4g, there are likely announcing there location every 5 secs with facebook and twitter as well, Pokemon does no different.

This is not the games fault or the games problem, this is bad parents and bad parenting pure and simple.

I see similar excuses with driving "Pokemon causes car accidents" Which again no, stupid people cause car accidents. Facebook, Twitter, and Texting is the number one causes of car accidents in the US. This app will likely jump up there with them, It is not any of those apps faults, its stupid people driving while using a smartphone that is to blame.

There were some teenagers, I forget where, but they were luring people using the game and then robing them at gunpoint.

Yes that did happen, They weren't luring anyone, they were driving around to the pokestops and looking for people were they knew there would be people.

That is just the same as robbing people at any popular hangout location. If you know there will be people, then thats where you go to rob them. That is just being blown out of proportion by media trying to demonize a game that is all. That is what the media does, how you guys have figured that out yet IDK lol.

I bet you didn't see the one, where the dude was streaming from his facebook the other day and him and his 2 friends were shot in broad daylight, in there car still streaming? That isn't all over the news is it? Because that is the new hot trend to bash, Pokemon GO is. Things that give locations, and can be used as lures. They already exist and are used all day everyday, likely even by everyone here. Yet that is okay, but it is not the new hot thing to bash on for media.

Lol, I guess I just never really got into it all that much. I have no idea when it really came out. I know my little cousin went bananas for it and is now, 15 years later, currently roaming the city trying to complete his collection. Ha!

Try the game guys, but dont try it close mindedly.

And dont do what alot of the people on my facebook that hate on it do/did. You cant launch the app, cacth a starter and sit there and burn an incense and say okay Im bored.

Put on a comfy pair of shoes, grab a friend or something. And "GO", Go chase down that rare pokemon, go visiti the pokestops and see the landmarks they are based on. Go and mingle and meet people along the way, make friends enjoy RL instead of being stuck at a stationary screen all day :).

I guarantee if you go on a nice long walk playing for a few hours after work, you will quickly see the appeal. (unless you live in a rural area, they suck from what I hear, ATM)
