Is this cage to small for a veiled chameleon?

The dimensions are:
20 TALL BY 18 WIDE AND 12 INCHES DEEP

I know adult cages are supposed to be much bigger, but I as wondering if this would be OK for a baby and for how long?

Male or female? For male, too small, for female, too small. The female will be able to live in it longer, but will need a bigger cage. The male will definatly need a bigger cage.

This is a fine cage (I use these) for up to 6 months old, male or female.

watch its behavious daily, you'll know when its no longer big enough.

It is the perfect size for very young veileds. But you should keep in mind that they grow pretty quickly.

for a baby, it's quite fine.
in fact, I would never use a large cage for just a baby as it might be too hard to locate food.

in about 4 months you should have a large cage set up and ready for him/her.
