Is this setup ok for baby Ambilobe

So I want to make sure that I have a right setup for a baby panther. I saw a similar setup and made a few mods. I put foil up so that he cant climb out, and moss on the bottom just in case he falls. A clip fan is up so a constant air flow is going through the container. The UVB is a T8 with a Repti 10.0 used, as I read that used is better for babies, just want to make sure that this setup is ok for him. Thank you

Edit/Also i see he has these white spots almost like bumps, i was told it could be hatch rite. I tried to rub it off( very carefully) but seemed to not come off.

Is this a baby that you hatched or obtained from someone? Honestly I would nix the 10.0 and go with the 5.0. That is what we used for our hatchlings. What about a basking spot. you don't want it to be too hot but in the low/mid 80's. What are you feeding this little fellow?
 
obtained it from someone, ok I will get a 5.0 tomorrow. For basking I had it set to low(with the dimmer swtich) but had it off as it was 95 today and I was afraid of baking him. So far I am feeding him fruit flies and pinhead crickets, I watched him eat and he is eating plenty and drinking water.
 
It was probably 95 because of the tin foil. You also could try a lower wattage bulb. We used a daylight blue bulb made by zoo med for the first couple months.. Make sure you are dusting the food with regular calcium. Hatchlings become dehydrated very quickly so make sure you are misting him down about ever hour or two for about 30 secs at a time (for the first couple weeks) than after about a month or more we spaced out the mistings a little more. Not too much but just enough so everything is wet. We housed our hatchlings in an aquarium with plastic coated chicken wire and leaves from a fake tree for the first couple months and then moved them into their own cube cages. It was easier to keep the humidity up and the food from escaping. We cleaned it ALOT though.

No not the temp inside the tub, 95 outside and was pretty warm inside. I have a spare Aquarium but didn't know if it was ok. what about the air flow with the aquarium? I have a fan above it to make sure the air flow is ok. and next feeding I will dust them with calcium, and do I start them on the D3 twice a month and Vitamins. Also is it ok to mist them at a young age? my wife said not to mist them or they can develop respiratory problems
 
yea it was hot here in socal today. Maybe the reflective lining of your enclosure might create a warmer climate when the bulb is on? just make sure you have plenty of air flow.....
 
Yes, misting is very essential for the little guys to stay hydrated... ESPECIALLY if it is 95 degrees where you live... How have you been getting water to him/her? With the fan, it shouldn't be directly blowing in the cage. That could cause a draft. I am going to have to say that whoever sold you a hatchling chameleon should be ashamed of themselves... Chameleons are very hard to raise when so young. They need to be a lot bigger and stronger before being sold. Out aquarium had a screen top to it and we lined the bottom with paper towel and cleaned it every couple days as to not let bacteria build.
 
I also live in LA county and it was hot today. What were your ambient temps in your house? How are you measuring your temps?

An aquarium is not a good choice.

If you are not using air conditioning to keep your Cham room temps down, you are going to be in trouble. Chams, especially young ones need consistent temps with ambient temps in the low 70's. If you cannot replicate this and your temps continue to spike because summer is coming, I would suggest another reptile.

If you are using air conditioning, you should be able to keep the basking light on and maintain proper temps.

A 10.0 with no screen between the light and Cham is too much, especially for an individual of that age.

I would also suggest a screen cage. Improved airflow is greatly needed to keep these animals healthy.
 
@ir0k- Ya it was weird weather, but just left the UVB so that way it wasn't getting to hot in there.

@KatiLemons-I have been misting by hand making sure to get everything and doing it about every 2 hours, I am about to hook my Monsoon up to it so it can be automatic. The fan is about 4ft from the tub just so some cool air could blow through because of how hot it was today in Southern California. As for the guy he told me they were 2months but seeing them they are not 2 months, but I wouldn't take him back after we fell in love with him. Your right it is some work and I am ready to do 120% to make sure he can grow up healthy.

I just might go with the aquarium, my biggest concern was him climbing to high and falling, or not getting enough air flow in a container or aquarium.

Your little guy does need to be in the air conditioning for sure! Keep him indoors and becareful with the monsoon that it doesn't flood whatever he is in. Only let it run for about 15 secs every time because you don't want any pools of water your little guy could drown in. Hope this helped. :)
 
@KatiLemons- Np hey Thank you a lot! I just want to make sure everything is done right, and I will monitor the Monsoon to make sure it does not cerate to much water to drown him, Thank you.

i wonder if you got a cool mist humidifier close to your cage to try and regulate better temps. i'd think it would be possible. Probably more so with a screen cage. But im not 100% sure, just an idea.
