Is this UVB safe for my panther?

My fiance an I have a 2 year old male nosy be panther chameleon. He's in a 4foot, 4foot , 2 feet enclosure. For UVB we use
exo-terra 26W 5.0 compact in a large deep dome fixture.
I keep reading how unsafe these coil bulbs are.
Is this ok for our lil guy?

I know the old coil bulbs had issues with causing eye problems, but I believe that has been resolved for some time now. The majority of the members on here use the linear style bulbs as the light dispersion is 10x better than the coil bulbs.

I just talked to a guy that breeds reptiles earlier today and he said that he uses coil bulbs and his chameleons and lizards are perfectly fine. He said most people prefer to use linear bulbs, but they have improved them. For now I suspect the coiled one would be fine, but I'd switch over to the tubes whenever you get a chance.

The Exo terra 5.0 coil build is about 7-8 inches away from him . Dose anyone think that's a safe distance from him? I wanna make sure he's not getting to much but also getting enough

There should be a minimum safe distance listed on the box or on the manufacturer's website. I know that the recommended distance is listed in the instructions and on the ZooMed site for their products. I would hope that exoterra would have something similar. Something to keep in mind, is that most bulbs have a "burn in" period in which the recommended distance may be be slightly farther for a certain amount of time.
