It's offical Daytona Here we come! (Who will be there?)

Julie and Juli, I found the Hilton on Expedia a while back for around $100.00......haven't checked lately to see if it stll there.
 
I'm within a few days of booking my flight down there. I have a few friends with booths (turtle/tortoise guys), and I owe one of them 4 or 5 hours worth of setup time on Friday, so I'm helping at least that much at the show. Should be a great time, I haven't been the past 2 years. I used to go all the time. Looks like I'm going solo this year. It'll be a tortoise buying trip for me.
 
To show my dedication, I'm going to miss half of orientation at my new university to be there! lol It's their fault for starting orientation on Friday Aug 20th! But I've got birthday money sitting in my wallet saying "chameeeeleon! chameeeeeleon!" so I must go and see if I come home with another one. :D
 
Well, you'll have at least one person listening to you. :D I plan to be there first thing on Friday to get set up so I have the rest of the day to unwind. Guess it looks like I'm taking in a lecture as well. :rolleyes:
 
Well Darci and I will be coming to the show, plane tickets have been booked... Woo Hoo!!! I am very excited to come especially since Darci got to go solo last year. Anybody know when the chameleon symposium starts and ends? Or the location of something they call a schedule?
 
i am coming down just like last year. i will be there for the symposium friday night also. Hope to meet ALL of you this time.

Yeah, I didn't want to get dragged to Outback kicking and screaming. LOL, actually I hadn't heard that Chad was going.

Mostly because of a lack of justification in going. It's too difficult logistically to do the show (I could do it, but not at a profit), and I don't expect to have the money available at that time to be able to go and buy a bunch of stuff. If I was able to get a bunch of money by then, there's probably more important / better things I should be spending it on than a flight, hotel room and a bunch of other crap. All that on top of a shrinking list of people I care to see down there (all my regular reptile friends I see at the West coast shows), and it's just not a great idea anymore.

Well, you don't have to worry about Outback this trip because I KNOW that Chad will be at Bubba Gump's all weekend. :rolleyes:

So am I chopped liver? The fact that you will see me there isn't justification enough?? :D I mean, I wasn't able to get my "Tyler Fix" at the Super Show......;) All right, I see how you are. I guess I will just have to wait until Vegas. :p

Just kidding. I know it's a lot. There are actually quite a few regulars not going this year due to cost/economy, but then there are plenty of new vendors as well. If it wasn't for the fact that this is always my best show of the year, then I probably wouldn't be going either. But if it's any consolation - you will be missed.

Well, I'll run it past my wife that I'm going there to spend the weekend with Julie, and I'll let you know what she says ;)

Socially, I'm just a little "over it" nowadays. Call me anti-social or whatever, I just don't have fun enough to go for that reason. I'm a little more of a "bottom line decision maker" than I used to be :)

I wish I had the cash together to go.... It's 6 months too soon for me, trying to build some stuff here for my torts this fall and winter is taking up all my spare money. There will be some good buying opportunities there, which is part of the problem with me being a vendor (low prices at the show makes it harder to do it and be profitable). There's no shortage of tortoises in Daytona. Maybe next year!

I may be able to go.I was suppose to go to Gainsville this weekend but it got pushed for another 2 weeks. Me and my family need to drive up my sister to Gainesville and for us to see her new apartment. I think i may be able to stop by the show for a bit with my family. Gainesville and Daytona are what an hour apart? My dad didn't wanna go because of the 5 hour drive but we are driving up anyways so why not. My sister says ok and that she want to go but now i have to convince my parents. Wish me luck guys!

so wish i didn't live in SD no shows near me until Oct. in Omaha... :/ boooorrring! but i would be at the turtles and tortoises most of the time :) getting turtles and tortoises of course :) more for my collection... (im gonna give my mother a heart attack one of these days with all the turtles i have ;)
