Jack Passed

It's with a heavy heart that I let everyone know that dear Jack passed today. I know several of you had followed his story. For those not familiar with Jack, he was a rescue veiled with severe MBD. Here is a link to some photos and a couple other threads showing his progression: https://www.chameleonforums.com/jack-43434/ He was with me a year and was a joy to keep. He was around 3 1/2 years old. Jack and I had a daily routine for the past year. He couldn't shoot his tongue more than about an inch or so which made catching crickets very hard. So I would hold him (have a little talk with him) then hand feed him his food. He loved supers and silks and dubia. I am really going to miss that time with him! I hope during the time he was with me, he had a good life!

Goodbye sweet Jack!

:(RIP Jack! I am so sorry for your loss, I have not read more than what you just posted and think you did a wonderful thing to take the time to spend with him and hand feed him! At least the end of his life was easier for him than the start.

very sorry for your loss, i too have a similar bond with my veiled and dread the day i have to say goodbye, R.I.P Jack

Nothing anyone can say makes it any easier for you losing your friend... But at least you'll know that you made his last year or so much better for having been with you... Sorry for your loss..

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. It makes me tear up thinking about losing a beloved pet. Even if they are grouchy, they get you. At least he is in a better place, without MBD eating all the supers, dubia and silks he wants. I hope the next few days are good to you.

Heather, I am so very sorry to hear about Jack. His story was one of the saddest we have ever seen, but very heartwarming at the same time with you taking him under your wing. You gave him a great life for the last year he was here and you should be proud of the way he progressed with all of your TLC. I hope Jack is at peace now and he is climbing to the top of the biggest tree up in cham heaven.

Thank you all very much, I appreciate the kind words. He was indeed a special little guy. He had a terrible beginning to his life, I just hope I made the remainder, better. It's not like I don't have a house full of chams, but I sure will miss saying 'good morning little man' to Jack each day.

It is amazing how such a small little creature can make a difference In your life. We got a vailed chameleon at a reptile show. He was doing fine for the first week or so then he stopped eating and moving around a lot. We took him to the vet and he treated him for dehydration, he was almost positive we got him sick from the show. We didn't have him long when he passed but he really touched our lives a great deal. I sat with him and held him for over 6 hours for his last day with us.

Oh Heather it is so sad to hear Jack finally lost the battle. You did a wonderful thing caring for him. None of us, including Ivan I think, ever expected you to be able to keep him this long. The last year with you was paradise for him.:(

I'm so sorry that Jack passed. Poor Jack had a few rough years until Dr. Alfonso rescued him and got him to the point that he could be adopted into a loving home. He was blessed to have you care for him this last year. Rest In Peace little Jack.

I am so sorry for your loss. You made Jack's last year on earth a wonderful one -- what more could be asked of you? Thank you for all you did for him. RIP little guy.

Awww, Heather, I am so sorry that Jack is gone. If it wasn't for you and Dr Alfonso he wouldn't have had such a long life. I'm sure he knew that you were helping him - they seem to know. May he rest in peace.:( Thinking of you.
