I have a Jackson. Getting my panther next week. Just wondering what, if any, differences are in their set ups. Correct me if I'm wrong, but panthers like warmer temps right?
The chameleon care sheets we have here will cover anything for panther chams that you might need
Jackson's need higher humidity, more water in general, cooler temps especially at night, and they are also more sensitive to supplements. You need to adjust the frequency and type carefully.
How about this- Read a book or preferably books and trustworthy websites before buying any animal and asking rudimentry questions.
Jesus walter, rude.much? This website ive been on for 3 weeks and ive never seen a forum like this with such rude people. Its almost a joke if it wernt for a few on here trying to help others. If you cant be civil and not rude why post?
I get mostly everyone on here has a passion for these creatures ok i get it.....but this by far is the rudest site ive ever been to. I thought this was a help forum, maybe i was wrong
Help, enthusiastically so, is for people who have tried to do some homework. No homeowork was done in asking your question. I am in fact helping. the message is that the animal dserves better preparation by a prospetive owner than what appears to have occurred here.
Gotta love the bickering amongst the people with less than 10 posts. How about you guys contribute some before starting arguments on forums to which you never participate other than to start arguments. If you want to call yourselves true chameleon lovers and members, do something useful.
Who was the one who belittled you? Was it the guy who contributed a whole 8 posts to this forum? Why would you take offense to a member who's got even fewer posts than you. They don't even count as a member.
I'm good. I appreciate all those who had my back! Super cool! At first I was like, man that's so mean, but then I just was like nah-he doesn't know me, he's just assuming. It's hard to read tone via typing. Easy to take things wrong. Even though I'm quite sure there was some mean in the post, I am not bothered by it. I tried to better explain myself. Think I did a decent job doing so. I just appreciate this site so much. It's been so great to have so much knowledge and personal experiences in one place! You gotta take the good with the bad. Bad is everywhere. Not going to condemn a site due to one bad experience. Especially when it has done so much good for me! Again! Thank you to symphonica, kwala, Carlton, and swayne8998 for your input on the set up differences. I already knew everything y'all told me, I was just looking for reassurance! If someone had said something contradicting what I was thinking, then that'd mean I need to hit the books and internet again. Feeling well educated and ready for my new baby!
Key word "appears" Walter forgive me for not better phrasing my question. Re reading it, does seem like just someone who hopped on the internet and bought a chameleon on line. I've researched a ton, chose a specific breeder. A respectful one, who knows what they are doing. Talked back and forth for two months about specific locale and looked at individual sires and took my time and hand picked my Cham. Bought a size correct cage for my baby. Not just one that would last or what was cheapest. I have a reptile vet. Began Raising my own feeders, and I gut load the ones that aren't in the colony I'm trying to build, correct. I was just nervous. Just want to make sure everything is perfect due to terrible mistakes I made when I bought my jackson. You know, just trying to insure I do NOT repeat any bad history. That being said, know that my jackson lives like a friggen king. He is, and always will be, my dude.
Then, my genuine apology. You deserve encouragement. Way too often I see poor husbandry in herps purchased with little or no background work on the part of the buyer. Just look at all the the broken green iguanas for adoption. A heartwreck. The animal then suffers because of that ignorance. From what you've written, you've done just what an animal deserves and a fortunate animal at that. For that reason, your question which at knee-jerk reaction seemed too basic took me by my oft jaded surprise, and you clearly did not deserve being treated in that category. When I'm right, I'm right. But when I'm wrong, like now, I'm wrong, and my apologies.
