Jackson's Chameleon

I'm new to the fourm. This is my first time having a Chameleon. I got him yesterday and he looks like he's doing pretty good. I just want to ask if there's anything I need to know about the Jackson's Chameleon? I spray his enclosure every morning and the Temperature is around 75 and the Humidity is at 80. Is that alright? I'm feeding him Mealworms right now because the pet store did not have any Crickets. But I do have them ordered. Any advice is going to be appreciated! Thanks!

He will need his enclosure sprayed for a few minutes early every morning and late every night with 2-3 shorter sprays or a dripper running in-between.

Meal worms are a very poor feeder. I understand you are just using them for now but ditch them after this. Superworms, dubia or other feeder roaches, flies, hornworms, silkworms and crickets are good feeders.

Thank you so much! I will start spraying at night too. I have a UVB light on top of the cage and then a basking light with 75 watt heat bulb. Is that to much?

You will need to measure the temperature on the branch under the lamp to know for sure.

Also first time chameleon owner, my Jackson chameleon is most likely 5-8 months old but I don't know for sure, just looking for for tips on my setup and also concerned about her brown color, she is female, I've had her home for about a week and I've never seen her green, basking spot is right around 80-82, humidty is around 50-60 when not misted and having trouble keeping it around 70-80

@1986C10 I would add more horizontal branches especially 6-8 inches from the top in the basking & UVB area and a lot more plants for starters. Give her time to settle in and she'll show her true colors more hiding spots will help. In the future try to start your own thread to make things less confusing. I know it won't let you on your first day.

Alright will do. I have a couple questions for the Calcium. The pet store only gave me Calcium with D3 but I have read to only give that to them 2 times a month? I ordered some Calcium without D3 and that will be here Friday. I need to dust the crickets without the D3 every day right?

I will post some pictures. I actually have don't have a tall tank. I planning on getting one in the future. But as of right now when he's smaller it think it's okay?

In Jackson's Calcium with D3 is only once a month, multivitamin once a month and plain calcium 2-3 times a week lightly. The care sheet says it better.
"Jackson's have decreased supplementation requirements compared to tropical species due to metabolism differences. Use calcium (without D3 or phosphorus) twice a week, a multivitamin once a month, and calcium with D3 once a month."

Thank you! I’m hoping my crickets will be arriving tomorrow or Friday. Do you think if I have to wait in till Friday. Mealworms will be fine in till then?

FYI if you would like to add some live plants (I recommend it) I've just been to Lowes and they have a great selection of chameleon safe plants right now, just make sure you purchase a chameleon safe one if so, fl chams plant list seems like the best .

I would still feed them but go easy on them and don't feed a lot at once. They are harder to digest.

A day or two of smaller feedings won't affect him in the long run. Hope the crickets get there soon.
