Just wondering. Chameleon bites

I think that the claw pinching is far worse than a bite. They grab on and you can't do anything until they decide to let go. The bite I would say is like being clamped with sandpaper.

Spike has bitten me twice now (last time just yesterday) and both times because he missed the pray I was holding and hit my finger. His tongue sticks, I'm sure it hurts him, so he came to my finger and bit me as to release it. Spike is almost 5 months old (veiled). Did not hurt just startles you. It's just hard not to pull away when his tongue sticks. I try to really pay attention to where he is looking and try to get the bug in my palm and not let it crawl on my fingers. I'm not sure what happened yesterday; guess I was not paying close enough attention. He still let me touch him after that, then got really ticked when I put the remote thermometer in his enclose to get a quick read. He puffed up and turned the brightest most vivid colors I have seen yet. Too bad he only does that when he's frightened/agitated. He was so beautiful.

I have a mature female Veiled who gets quite testy a couple times a year. There has been a few times when feeding and the worm never released from my hand (or just had hand in encloser ) and my finger was included with dinner. Never bled but felt like the "hammer "

I have never been bitten, but that is because my female veiled warns me when she is angry and I know to back off.

My male veiled, who died a few months ago, bit me the first time I tried to clean his cage. After that, I wore a fake leather glove every time I cleaned his cage. he bit it a few times, but only when I cleaned his cage! Any other time, he would waltz onto my hand, happy as a clam, and just chill on my head. Typical guy...

LOL! my hands always have little red dots from where Smeagol digs his little claws in to get a nice firm grasp (OUCH!!) or even just walking on me.
I always ware a long sleave shirt too ;)

I was thinking something similar. Don't know about worse but definitely not so fun when you have a big boy mellers or oustalet attached to bare skin. Haven't been bit by a big species ever though lol. I would assume WC bites to be much nastier than a long captive individual or CB though. Potential deathly bacteria in my mind...or you may just turn into a werechameleon.

Edit: none of my chams have ever bitten me......I got one decent nip from my last Monitor, but he let go straight away and just left a little curved line of holes.......

I'm with you Reganold, the werechameleon thing would be kind of nice.
I could imagine climbing into the trees on a warm summer evening and instead of getting chewed on by mosquitos, I'd be chewing them :D
