Juvenile Veiled Color?????

in my own opinion i thinkit would be more stressful trying to house them cosistantly when they are older. i actually tried it with the first male i got from the pet store he freaked out and quit eateing. as soon as we took him back and they couldnt get him to eat they put him back in the cage with his brothers and he gorged him self i thought that was odd. So i brought home another male. now you are going to ask why could i house them seperately then and not now simple we had a tank which i hate glass that was being use for a childs ball python. someone took it home with them to see if they liked it didnt and brought it back. so ifanyone in south florida wants a healthy 4ft ball girl let me know. shes my bfs little brothers and his brother doesnt like it. everyone forgets shes there. its sad but my bf and i do what we can for her. they will be seperated as soon as i can buy a larger cage or build one.at the moment they are insepeable. the female puts herself between me and him when ever i go in to clean up a little. Her protectiveness is rather interesting. And about the one i had.....he was stressed and dehydrated in a petland petstore i had never seen one that looked like him. i was also going through kidney problems and had just had minor surgery and i was also dehydrated go figure. i asked to see him and they guy that showed him to me and told me about him and his being very stressed out said he didnt expect him to live long. i said can i put a deposit on him since im moving just had surgery and dont want to stress him out further he aid sure. i sat in the back of the store where it was quiet and just let him be him. his color changed and he calmed down. over the next two weeks he got healthier i went in every 2 days to see him was tol that after i left he would sit on the ground and turn olivgreen and grey. when i walked in he would scratch at the glass for me to hold him and he would liven back up. he would do this when i would get home from work too. i took him to the vet after i had had him for three weeks the vet said i was vet knowledgeable and that when he saw this little guy 2 months ago he didnt expect him to live longer than 6 months. i had him for three years and he was about a year old when i got him. we went thru him having a skin problem where i had to put this greesy stuff on him to force feeding him once a year for about a month after he would stop eateing and flare up. so i may not know about veileds but rest assured if something were wrong i would do everything in my power to fix it. im not ignorant

Andthats why you should keep them separate until they are older and you are much more knowledgable about veileds and their behaviors, because your not ignorant. It's for the good of them. Plus you can witness their natural solitary behavior that way.

If you refuse them the ability to live naturally first, then you are ignorant. First let them be alone untill they are adults, then let themmeet again and see how they respond to each other. Once you have more research and room and you feel you know the normal natural signs of a veiled in it's solitary environment THEN you could let thembe togehter and report back to us about your progress :)

thats what has me confused...they dont like not being around each other they are never more than a few inches apart when relaxing. before it becomes an issue they will be seperated. I want both of them to have as long of a life as possible. its been a week and they apear to be doing wonderful. i would hate it for them not to get along but if they dont they dont. i have no intention in forcing the to cohabitate its just what they like i guess you could say at the moment.

Translation.

In my own opinion I think it would be more stressful trying to house them consistantly ?cohabitively when they are older.

she's my bfs boyfreind's?[/i] little brothers and his brother doesnt like it.
Everyone forgets shes there. Its sad but my bf and I do what we can for her.

At the moment they are inseparable. The female puts herself between me and him when ever I go in to clean up a little. Her protectiveness is rather interesting, and about the one I had.....he was stressed and dehydrated in a petland petstore.

I had never seen one that looked like him. I It? was also going through kidney problems and had just had minor surgery and I it? was also dehydrated, go figure.
I asked to see him and the guy that showed him to me and told me about him and his being very stressed out, said he didnt expect him to live long.

Just overconfident, hardheaded and a poor writer?
Best wishes for your lizards. :)

It may be bullying that's happening, so be careful. Sometimes one cham will harrass the other and not leave them alone until they stop eating and drinking and die.

before you insult someone you should inquire as to what may make them poor writers or what ever you feel isnt up to par with your standards. i have severe dyslexia. if i concentrate on no mistakes and perfect everything it would take me an hour to type anything. you hate it im sorry i cant help it. i wish i could. if someone has a bad heart condition and it causes them to retain extra fat does it deserve an insult.....i think not i bet you were the bigest a$$ hole in school huh?

Courtney, you catch more flies with honey. Keep that in mind, MOST of us are here to help, but the signal you gave off at the begining and lack of willingness to accept what others said was interpreted as rude by most. I'm trying to be nice regardless of the 'tone' of your text, but others will not be. Perhaps a little bit less agressive approach would help.

so you are a great editor... you want a cookie perhaps a smiley sticker for your folder.... so i cant type shoot me.... you have no reading comprehension
check out your miscorrections!!!!!!

I had never seen one that looked like him. I It? (not it me jacka$$ i had kidney problems and surgery) was also going through kidney problems and had just had minor surgery and I it? (again I was dehydrated...i didnt know chams could have kidney surgery....) was also dehydrated, go figure

Courtney,

The problem is you're making ridiculous statements and your posts are so incoherent that no one can follow anything you're saying. Do everyone a favor and spend the hour it would take you to formulate something resembling a coherent thought and people might be able to actually engage you in a discussion rather then just assuming you're high.

Chris

Again, I would suggest nicer typing or the next time you may need help here no one may be willing to help. If you believe in karma, then think about it. If you don't, then think about how your rubbing these people... The wrong way.

Perfection is neither attainable nor required Courtney, an effort to be clearly understood however, is common courtesy.
My remark was uncalled for, sublety took a vacation and I apologise.
My translation of your incomprehensible post was a genuine effort to decipher its meaning, I was not the only person who found it difficult to read and understand.
Sentence structure and paragraphs have nothing to do with dyslexia, nor does punctuation.
I'm afraid I fail to see any connection between your medical issues and your attitude
towards members of this forum who have tried to give you sensible advice.

The issue of not housing chameleons together stems from accumulated experience and some timely caution.
Sheer statistical refrence shows most chameleons (not all, but most), more particularly your species, prefer a solitary existance for the most part.
In much the same way you can drive around without a seatbelt and get away with it, perhaps many times, but the odds are that you will eventually be busted.
Likewise, the odds are that you will encounter problems by housing your lizards together, if not now, then later.

I have always said that there is an exception to every rule, but they are exceptions.
The advice you were given is based on the odds and erring on the side of caution for your benefit and for your lizard's. I encourage free thinking, but still recommend you err on the side of caution, particularly if you cannot always be present to closely observe your animals in their habitat.

Peace :)

Courtney, we are trying to help you. Listen to our advice if you choose to. If not, and you think that this forum is a bunch of people who just raise chams and sell them for profit, go find another chameleon forum.

- Good luck

hey im fine when someone says something negative im not going to let it go esp. when i didnt start the negativity. im not going to say i havent been defensive but i never got to the point of insulting till someone else tried to insult me. the one and only person whom i orignaly got into it with in the beginning, that convo is said and done i dont know why people who have nothing else to do in the middle of the night keep reading and adding their 2 cents i obviously got an answer to my question. and to thoes of you who dont like me all you have to do is this and its rerally easy esp. for thoes of you who still feel the need to keep drama flowing

STOP READING MY POSTS

Sentence structure and paragraphs have nothing to do with dyslexia,

this should explain alot for you. the third one is a kicker. it drives my bf crazy and makes him laugh. you can say that you still dont understand how it affects me....untill you try to read, say or type a simple word from the middle to the end and back to the beginning but it translates perfectly to you....but sometimes the people you love look at you laugh and say say that again but slower......and it still freaking comes out the same....it screwed me up in school too it took a retired college professor i worked with in VA to tell me what was wrong. i had it looked into and yay me...i get to me a$$ backwards for ever

Dyslexia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dyslexia is a learning disorder that manifests itself primarily as a difficulty with reading and spelling. It is separate and distinct from reading difficulties resulting from other causes, such as a non-neurological deficiency with vision or hearing, or from poor or inadequate reading instruction.[1] It is estimated that dyslexia affects between 5% to 17% of the U.S. population.[2]

Although dyslexia is thought to be the result of a neurological difference, it is not an intellectual disability. Dyslexia is diagnosed in people of all levels of intelligence: below average, average, above average, and highly gifted.[3][4]
[edit] Conditions that often co-occur with dyslexia
The following conditions often occur with dyslexia in the same individual. It is unclear whether these conditions share underlying neurological causes with dyslexia.[citation needed]

Dysgraphia is a disorder which expresses itself primarily during writing or typing, although in some cases it may also affect eye-hand coordination in such direction or sequence oriented processes as tying knots or carrying out a repetitive task. Dysgraphia is distinct from Dyspraxia in that the person may have the word to be written or the proper order of steps in mind clearly, but carries the sequence out in the wrong order.
Dyscalculia is a neurological condition characterized by a problem with learning fundamentals and one or more of the basic numerical skills. Often people with this condition can understand very complex mathematical concepts and principles but have difficulty processing formulas and even basic addition and subtraction.
Developmental dyspraxia is a neurological condition characterized by a marked difficulty in carrying out routine tasks involving balance, fine-motor control, kinesthetic coordination, difficulty in the use of speech sounds, problems with short term memory and organization are typical of dyspraxics.

Oddly the last two posts were easier to read. Might be that you were angry before, that made your posts unreadable. I see a marked improvement in both the writing and the tone.
It wasnt so much that you get sentence structure messed, but rather that you keep on typing and typing, well after you would have paused for a breath if you were saying it.
That makes it difficult for the reader to know where sentences begin and end.

A big post in one hit, is really hard to follow. If you leave a gap after each few sentences, like I just did, then smaller chunks of text are easier to take in at once.
I know it must be really frustrating for you, but clearly you can do pretty well despite your problem if your calm.
Anyway, I agree this thread is done to death, and best left to fade away now.
cheers :)
