K. Matschiei Copulation

Sorry I just read what happened to some of your clutch. This little guy seems quite healthy. Better future for him! How old is he?

This second clutch all popped out today! Tons all at once! (November 4, 2011)

All of the babies from the second clutch are thriving. They are eating about 4,000 crickets every week. Keeping the wallet full and the cage clean seems to be more difficult than anything else!

Congratulations Chad. That's great news. I am patiently waiting for my turn on 'The List". Keep us posted..

Awesome chad! Very exciting. I have my extra enclosures all built and ready to go.

Here is a size comparison between the first clutch and the second.

They are looking great! Looks like the second clutch is catching the first in size. They are amazing looking little Chams.

They are only 2 months or so apart.

Yeah Rob, the second clutch is catching up! The firsters are bigger but more so around the belly than their length. Sooooooo hard to get a good pic! These were the best two out of about twenty and several minutes of juggling.

The size difference looks normal for the age difference. My experience with K. multituberculata tells me your older ones will probably start blasting off soon. They are both as pleasantly plump as possible.

The babies are doing well. The weather here in California has been so strange and warm that on my days off, the babies get sun from 11-4pm. They really prefer crickets but the flies are also readily accepted if I offer them every few days. The problem with flies is that they are tougher to give varied gutload and they all hatch and die within a fairly short time.

I am part of Ghanns cricket program but on the west coast, shipping is so expensive. American Cricket Ranch in San Diego hasn't decided to exploit this fact yet. Their prices are still high enough to cancel any reduced shipping costs.

As for the babies, they have all gone through two sheds, some have shed three times. They are eating 1/4 inch and some can even do 1/2 inch crickets. I'm still very wary of shipping because of the one baby I lost before.

There is another clutch due to hatch in late February or March. This next clutch only shares a mother genetically with Dresden as their father. I am comfortable trying a pairing with the others, only because there are no other genetically distict animals in America. If someone speaks up that can offer others or more are imported, I am all for striving to establish diversity but I think preserving wild populations is more important. Please offer your opinions!

Glad to hear, can't wait to get my hands on a couple. as far as an opinion, I think your plan sounds pretty solid. I would also be comfortable breeding those two, but if someone else comes forward with other genetically different ones then that would be another story.

Keep in mind that Todnedo has a pair of giants I sold to him that have eggs due to hatch any day. Ideally, my offspring should make pairs with his pair's offspring. Cross your fingers!

Oh yeah , I'm getting 1.1 of his as well to pair with the 1.1 I'm getting from you.
I spoke with him and have been added to the top of the list.
