I just had to put my veiled down yesterday due to kidney failure. We originally took her to the vet because she started to eat less & became lethargic. She was diagnosed with MBD because the pet store we bought her from does not provide UVB or daily calcium supplements. I spent almost $2,000 trying to save her. Her uric acid levels were off the charts, increased wbc, decreased rbc. For over a month I tube fed her, gave her shots of antibiotics, vitamins, and forced fluids and liquid calcium. She did not respond to treatment. Looking back now, I wish I would have had the strength to put her down sooner. I feel like she suffered. Not eating, not passing, not moving, it was not a good 2 months. We just bought her on Christmas, so we didnt have her for long, but she definitely had our hearts. I would love to take the pet store to court. She died because of their lack of care and treatment. They should not sell animals that they cant care for, they are suffering.
Good luck to you, its a very difficult thing to watch your pet go through.
