Kimi

It has been 3 weeks since I took Kimi home with me. She is such a always hiding away from me as soon as I come towards her. Today I took her out for a short period of time and she puffed up, mouth open and hissing at me but I just left her on my hand and talked softly to her. She is a little sweetheart but so scared. I already have Charlie my panther and when I first got him he was totally different from her. I know Veiled charms are on the aggressive side from what I was reading. Hopefully she will come around like Charlie did. He comes running to the door when I walk by and he wants out. I guess Kimi just needs more time to settle in more. She is about 4 month old.

Try using feeding tongs or hand feed just make sure your hands are clean before hand feeding. Some chams need a bit more time to accomidate themselves than others. But feeding is another way of interacting with them. Without handling them and getting a better recognition of you.

Thank you for your reply. I always make sure I wash my hands before I touch any of my reptiles I try to hand feed and she goes and hides in the corner and won’t move she is some lady. But I won’t give up. Like you mentioned some might need more time then others.

Just an FYI, talking to your chams won't do much for them! They are virtually deaf

(buuut I talk to my chams, too!)

if she hisses at you keep your hand in the cage til she stops but don't try to pick her up, pulling your hand back reinforces the behavior but reaching for her will stress her too much, try feeding to get her out, place food further up your arm so she crawls to the food
