Kinyongia Housing. Together, separate?

I'm getting some Kinyongia Boehmi and I'm wondering how you guys that have been successful with them house them. Do you suggest keeping them in pairs all the time, or separate? The cages that I would house pairs together in would be 18x24x36", very heavily planted. I can also do separate no problem, just wondering what you guys think.

PS, tried posting this in the Kinyongia forum, but I didn't have access yet :(. Must be too new of a member.

Thanks everyone! Love these forums!

I have only had my boehmei's for a few months and not owened any kinyongia's before, but I keep a group of 1.3 together and seen no signs of stress. He has mated with all 3 and has left them alone without any more advances. They all eat together great.
I would value more experinced keepers opinions over mine though so would be good to hear from them.

Its always the best choice to house most chameleon species separate. That being said, I do know someone who kept a group together with no problems and jojo has also they said. Even if the males leave the females alone there are other problems. The females may not want to lay their eggs if other animals are around. Food competition and cases of one chameleon snagging a feeder and another animal wants it. It will shoot it out of the others mouth. Bad things can happen from that like the animal getting its tongue bit.

My suggestion would be to keep them separate since you can.

Ive kept these before and the closely related tavetana. They seem to be not quite as active as tavs but still active. My individuals stayed in a 16x16x30. Of course the bigger the better really.

Sounds good, thank you.

This is my first time keeping the species. Are females smaller than males? Do you think I could keep females in 18x18x24s and the males in 18x24x36s? For breeding I would intro female to males.

Good luck with the Boehmi. Just a thought but if it was my 1st time working with a certain species i would probably try a little more forgiving species like a multi.

Thanks! I've been keeping and breeding reptiles for over 10 years. Worked with some of the most delicate gecko species out there, whose care is nearly identical to these chameleons.

Just as Nick said on the add, they seem to be more hardy than the closely related K. tavetana. At least the trio I owned was compared to the 13 or so tavs I have owned.

Sounds like you will do well with them. I hope you will post many pics and keep us updated!
