Laying Bin Questions

Good point, seeing as the mom balks at $75 for a vet visit I HIGHLY doubt shed be happy w 20-30 babies about.
That's why the picture is blurry so we can't see the eggs bulging out like little jelly beans under her skin! Y else!

Definately not gravid. She is too young and mine is laying eggs right now; right before she was extremely fat. Also she went off diet for a week before and stayed on the ground all day. You will definately know when she needs to lay.
As for the laying bin, I used eco earth and got it wet enough so that she could dig a tunnel without collapsing.

50/50 mix of lake Michigan beach sand & unfertilized potting soil! If u get it to wet add more soil!

I began to suspect she was infertile. PS she told me (when I thought she was gravid) that I could keep 2 of my choice..... Give the rest to fellow Cham lovers....

You have to raise babies until their 3 months at least though, raising babies is not for novices. You have to feed 20-30 mouths every day for 3 months a varied diet, set up a different enclosure. It's not something you just stumble into blindly, it's something you prepare for. It's like having a litter of puppies. Except you have to feed them.

I'm aware. I'm not omniscient on the subject, but I'm aware. I would have 7-9 months to prepare anyway. However, back to the point. I still can't figure out how old she is:( due to the fact that it varies...she could be 3 months or she could be 8 months. A 7 month old I saw (the guy had him since hatch) was slightly smaller than my girl. My mom reported that she continues to stare at the dirt, pausing occasionally to catch a stray cricket or wander around. PS I am getting a new cage soon definitely. Planning on a 3'x3'x4' and on a 2-3 foot tall stand. I recently read about roomies....would a tree frog be good with her in that sized cage? I plan on getting a male tree frog (sorry girl but I am SO done with female herps....) and seeing if that works. If they are aquaintable, or at least nonhostile, I will leave them be. If not, I have a 12"x12"x18" glass EcoTerra that I have previously kept tree frogs in. Would that be ok?

PS I might change her name to Camille or Cami just because I thought her a male....

A vet that can see and handle it is your beat bet at an age. Also wont hurt to bring some poop to do a test. I did on mine just for my own security and hers, it did cost about $100+ but worth it imo
