So I left my place last night at about 6pm. Thinking id be returning home around 9ish. Well I wound up going to my girlfriends and spending the night. Just wondering how bad it is that I left his light on all night.

Im assuming its not a good thing to let happen regularly, but thinking one night isnt the end of the world. Ive caught him sleeping with the lights on before.

Any thoughts? I am now considering buying a timer.

well i'm not sure about this but i do the same thing. except when i go down to my moms a stay the weekend and I leave the lights on for my cham. been doing this for a year not and nothing seems wrong with my cham. the only thing shes without is crickets for 2 days but gets fed when we get back and mist. and it's not every weekend it's like maybe 1 every 3 months.

I would say its critical to have the lights on a timer. Your cham would not be subjected to widely fluctuating light schedules in nature so you should try to mimic natural light schedules as best you can in captivity. For $5 to $20 max you can get a great timer at home depot or lowes. Well worth the investment. JMO

I'd second that.. I bought one for like 5 bucks at wal-mart. I just plugged a power strip into that. but then i needed another power strip awhile ago so i bought a timer one. it has 8 plugs and was like 20 bucks. well worth it.

Yeah Ill go grab a timer today. Like I said, I was doubtful one night would've caused that much damage, and I am usually pretty good about keeping a fairly regular schedule. But a timer sounds like a good way to not even have to worry about it.

Thanks everyone.

Timers are the way to go, no question!

i have a quick question maybe you guys can help me out about the lighting for my cham. i live in seattle wa and around this time it starts to snow and get really cold, so if i turn off the light (witch is also there heating source) during night time wouldnt it be too cold for them during that time? even though we have them in my living room its pretty cold at night and in the morining. i am thinking of getting a timer so i wont have to keep the light on all night and day just so they can be kept warm, but i dont know how long they should be without the light ?? another thing i was thinking was a good idea was buying a blck bulb the same kind we have but black and use the black one during night so it wouldnt bother them to sleep and the red bulb wich i have them under right now during day time ?? can anybody tell me if any of those ideas would work??

Make sure you know how many prongs the timer you're buying has. Some are grounded, some are not. Your needs may vary.
