Chameleon Info:
• Your Chameleon –Veiled Chameleon, male, 3 months old. Been in our care for six days.
• Handling –Just for sun baths.
• Feeding – Crickets, 10-12 per day sometimes 15, twice per day. Gut-loading feeders with carrots and cabbage?
• Supplements – Exo-terra calcium without D3, once per day.
• Watering – Misting 3 times per day and a waterfall, I change the water of the waterfall every day, I’ve read it’s not good idea to implement waterfalls so I’ll be getting an automatic mister soon. Never seen him drinking by himself I use an eye dropper to give him water.
• Fecal Description – Feces are dark green and urate is white, everything looks normal, never tested it for parasites.
• History –He was living with 5 more chams in the same enclosure some bigger than him, when we got him, he was very active, climbing all around my hand and the store’s enclosure.
Cage Info:
• Cage Type – wood and screen, 40x40x120.
• Lighting –Sunshine UVB 5.0, 12 hours of light and 12 of darkness. Bought a reptisun 10.0 which will be here tomorrow.
• Temperature – 30 C basking spot, 26 on cage floor. 20C overnight. Measured by a thermometer.
• Humidity -50%- 70%
• Plants –Rubber plant.
• Placement – Near air vents, med-traffic area, most of the time is quiet.
• Location – Shanghai, China.
Current Problem –Since the day he came in our home he’s been a little lethargic, doesn’t move much, his head and belly are most of the time on the branches resting, like he doesn’t have enough strength to stand. To feed him I have to put the crickets very close to him and unlike our female veiled, he hesitates when trying to catch prey, it takes a while for him to shoot his tongue, nevertheless we patiently feed him every day and he gets to eat up to 15 crickets, his colors are shiny, sometimes he is grumpy. We would like to know if this behavior is common and we are just worrying too much or if there is something actually wrong with him. I compare him with our female veiled because we’ve had her for 2 months and she is very healthy and active, moving from branch to branch the whole day.
Thanks for your help.
David.
Grumpy, hates the camera.
Just moving his eyes...
The girl, climbing from branch to branch.
