Living rooms are for people who don't have chameleons

the free range keeps growing ...

Thanks everyone! It's very doable - just get rid of your couch and most furniture, get a lot of plants, put down plastic under the drainage to make sure water doesn't damage the carpet (I rent), get more plants and vines, sit is the one (or two) chairs you have left and enjoy!

Yes, Meller's are amazing! Definitely need special care and there is lots of good info here to help.

Where does your Cham deficate? I would love a setup like that, but not in love with the idea of it possible raining digested cricket on me or the carpets.

Does your landlord have a heart attack when he sees your setup??!! I had the same thing with plastic on the floors to revent a disaster o the carpet with the misting/drainage system. They don't share the same enthusiasm as I do with my chameleon farm, especially in their property. I'm pretty suer I won't be getting my deposit back! Renting sucks!

well ... they haven't really seen it! I'm hoping to keep it that way. I did pay a pet deposit in addition to the regular deposit and we've been here a very long time and never had or caused any problems so they are pretty tolerant and decent in general. (it's a large apt complex)

yes renting sucks and rent is so high we can't pay rent and save for a house too. Our goal is to get out of socal in the next couple years.

I love it! I wanna be a chameleon at your house! :). I also rent and so far haven't had any issues with landlords and my free range area.

I would hope that the free range in the living room AND the six cages in the dining room wouldn't be too much for them! As I said, they are pretty cool about stuff. Maybe when the entire apartment has turned into a jungle I might need to slow it down!

I did a free range when I rented in my college years. Visitors could only see disaster looming! But when it was time to move I pulled everything up and the carpet on that side of the house was perfectly preserved! In fact, it looked as good as the day I arrived! The rest of the apartment was worn from use, of course.

The lesson learned? Next time I should make the free range area bigger!!!! :)
