local wild chameleons

My wacky woodshop teacher told me there is a neighborhood in LA where a colony of wild jacksons chameleons live. And have heard countless stories of A large hill in my area that have wild chameleons too. Just some breeder who let his chameleons go. Have you ever heard of this? could it be true?

it is definatley possible, theres a bunch of wild veilds in ft.myers or cape coral here in fl one of the 2 i dnt remember. you'd be surprised how well they do in the wild i saw someone let go a dying panther and in 2 weeks it was found by his neighbor and it was doing great so he kept it lol. your should check it out, it might be wirth your time!

I will. theres a big hill that overlooks the ocean thats stays pretty humid where they are rumored to be. thats pretty interesting.

There are a few populations of T. jacksonii in southern California. From the sounds of it, you know where one of them is (you're describing it correctly at least). I'm not sure why you'd assume they wouldn't be in good condition, however. They've managed to survive and reproduce for a number of generations, which they wouldn't do if they weren't healthy.

My inlaws live in the Palos Verdes area and he had seen twice Jacksons chameleons in the hood. I heard there are some in the Huntinton Beach area aswell.

thats true i guess. But ive seen pics of chams in mady that were totally skinny and dehydrated.

I also heard they're somewhere in Laguna.
I went chameleon hunting on Oahu and never found one. I was all over the island trying to see if I could see one, but nothing. I'm sure it would be pretty hard to find out exactly where they are in CA.

i dont plan on taking them home bt im sre its better with a good owner than getting eaten by a cat. then again its considered taking an animal out of its "wild habitat" and WC
