I had Shark outside on a plant today I turned my back for just a minute, when I looked back she was gone. My husband and I searched the yard for an hour and just as we were giving up he stood by the deck (the deck is eye level for him) and he looked at the underneath of the bbq just in case she might have gone there as he was looking up he seen these little eyes looking back at him. Shark was on the bottom of the bbq, as black as the bbq all you could see were the eyes.
Heres a pic of her.

I've noticed my male veiled when he puffs up and gets very stressed as she looks his eyes sink in a bit.. has she laid eggs before yet? im very very happy u found her :)

You and your cham were VERY LUCKY!!! So, no more turning your back on her when she's outdoors, right?

Yeah she's a little dehydrated right now cause she just laid her eggs. I usually don't have to worry about her cause she doesn't like being on the grass when the kids are running around, I guess being on the deck is a different story.

That's crazy, mine got into some monkey grass yesterday and almost escaped. When I finally found her she was about the same color. I had no idea as well that she could turn so dark!

You can't trust these guys to stay put outside.

They trick you in to thinking they are well behaved and "oh me? I won't go anywhere , ill sit right here on this tree...go ahead and go answer the phone or go get a drink".

Then when you let your guard down. Bam! High tail it for freedom.

Sneaky little Chameleons .

I am glad you found her... I have a story about a veiled who spent two days and a night outside before we found him

She was totally freaked/stressed out or cold.

No she just didn't want to go back inside. Ive seen her match colours before to hide from me but this is the first time she was on something black. She was very happy where she was sitting, wasn't till I picked her up that she got mad.

Thank God u got a happy ending. I've just lost mine in my bedroom, which is very small, but I cannot find her anywhere...

That's exactly how it happens, too!

Sometimes we revive our females in the shower after they lay. Not right after they lay, but a day or 2 later if they appear dehydrated we stick their plant or their cage in the shower and direct the head so the water bounces off the shower wall onto the plant or cage. We leave them in there about 20 minutes. Often one session will be enough to rehydrate.
