Lost my Jackson's :(

I didn't even want to post because I did this all wrong. Bought juvenile chameleon at Pet show; bought the Reptibreeze kit with the cheap UV-B twisted lamp. After some research got the Arcardia lamp with forest dweller 6% bulb. Got automatic mister from show. Tried to feed him superworms and crickets and never was a great eater. I got the Repcal vitamins and stuck the live food in the container. I should have gotten vet check for wellness in beginning. Recently I fed him a green grasshopper from the back yard. Each time he tried to eat it he got the hind legs only and finally got the body. I noticed that he was developing temporal pore disease and called vets this Thursday. None here in Mobile Alabama would see him until after Memorial Day. I am sorry about his death. This post may not belong here but it about heath and death.

I am sorry for your lose . Unfortunately those zoomed kits are very misleading and many of us , myself included, have fallen for bad husbandry that it falsely convinces us is correct. Take this as a chance to learn. Many people buy reptiles too impulsely. Now you have a better understanding of chameleon husbandry and what vets in your area don't. We re always here to help . It's okay to be grieving the loss of your friend and to want to talk about it.

I used to watch him so much and now I got the empty cage to look at. I got him 3 months ago before covid and all the shut downs. I am thinking of getting a veiled. I will show the group my cage set up and all parameters.

Hard to believe with 3 or 4 vets that none would see it. It is my fault though. Should have called for vet when he stopped feeding. May have been Tuesday and I waited until Thursday. All the vets have their new patient protocols and don't let you just walk in. May have been that the bacteria from the temporal gland infection were already in the blood stream.

Better but I'm stilled worried haha. I order the xl reptile breeze it's way too big. I posted a thread to figure out Sage s sex. She s a girl. But when I order the cage I thought she was a male. I fit in the cage ? but for her it's too much. I couldn't figure out a way to provide enough hide spaces without spending beyond what I have. It's also wicked unstable, I feel like there should be support bars in a cage that big. Never found chameleon safe branches in the park or woods near me. On the plus side , I have the supplementation down, even bought a calander. Got horn worms and roaches online too. I made an egg laying bin with ecoearth because she prefers dirt and the new bulbs are working great. Problems she hasn't she'd in 2 months now other than part of her beard and the front of her face is the preshed white blotchy. But she s doing good, starting to bond with tong feeding.

Welcome to the world of worry, again, haha. I'm always talking to her in hand signals . Like when she eats off the tongs or is friendly I give her a thumbs up. You really going to go insane too. Did you get another male or a female this time? Pictures?

We re here for you! Actually would be a great idea to ask for a husbandry check so we can get you down the right path so you know what to change ?

I understand completely. I schedule emergency visits for the store animals and all the vets in our area really don't know how to treat exotics. The exotic vet an hour away won't even except new clients. It's not your fault, even if you went earlier you probably wouldn't have found a vet. Don't blame yourself!

I got a female this time. I bought the kit because they didn't just have the screen. So i threw all of that crap out anyways. I only kept the vine but i learned with the lighting.
Told you complete waste of $ . At least you already have things like the supplement and such! That's why I was able to rescue a bullfrog from my work ?. I'm so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't have much of a choice because they didn't have just the screen enclosure so I just bought the kit but I'm not worried about it I feel more content but I rescued her from them
