The day started normal... I turned on my chams lights misted them down, fed them, and went to work. I came home misted my guys again and then turned off the lights about 30 minutes ago, I hear a thud from one of my cages... I look inside and one of my males is on the bottom of the cage on his side and unresponsive... I picked him up and he was very stiff and his eyes were sunken in. I tried to give him a little water and he didn't want any. he gaped his mouth a few times moved his head back and forth and then he laid down on his side and passed away. I don't know what happened with him? My other 2 Oustalet's are perfect, I checked on them and they were sleeping soundly and I picked them up to check them out and they were perfect?

Here he is first day I picked him up at just about 3 months - My son named him "Skinny"

He was such a handsome boy. I am so very sorry for your loss. You might want to get an autopsy to see what happen to him.

Thank you!!! I may very well do that, because now I'm a little scared for my other guys because this was so sudden? My fiance told me I should move his cage away from the others and that I should try to find out what happened with him. I took his cage outside checked for anything that could have caused it and bleached it out; just in case... It is very strange and no signs of trauma (aside from the fall). I know with the colder weather in AZ, I have been getting quite a few scorpians in my home and yard and I hope one didn't sneak in his cage and sting him!!

Thank you everyone. I had my other guys checked out by my vet and fecals done just as a precaution and they were clear and clean. We buried him yesterday.

im very sorry for your loss, the worst losses are when you dont know wahat happend so you think you did something. he was such a beautiful cham

Yeah, it was very strange, especially since my other guys have no signs/symptoms of anything and I've never had any problems with my guys. All my guys are on the same schedule, same food supply, same supplements, lighting, etc... I just hope nothing like this happens with my other 2 guys!

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of Skinny. The pictures you have taken of him as he grew are so beautiful and something you will always have to cherish. I know the unknowing of what happened and the sudden shock of loosing him must be terrible. But in at least he was not will with long suffering. I'm so sorry and you are in my thoughts as you get through this very painful time.

Rip skinny. Is that a veiled/ panther????

He was a male Oustalet Chameleon. He was one of 3 that I have had since about 3 months. They are 2nd generation CBB Oustalet's. I still have my other 2 males that are just over 1 year old.
