I just purchased two Chameleons; A Male Panther Chameleon, and a Veiled Male chameleon. My 1 Month Old Veiled Chameleon was purchased through PETCO. After doing a few research i came across FLChams and purchased my 3 month old panther chameleon. I received it rather quickly (next day delivery). Does anyone have any tips on how to maintain them healthy and happy?? My 3 Month old Panther does not like to be handled at all. Maybe its because i just got him today through the mail, not sure. So I'm leaving him alone for a day or two. How do i get him used to being handled? My 1 month old veiled, doesn't really mind the handling part at all. He actually falls asleep as i hold him. Any tips on maintaing my little guys healthy and happy?

Welcome to the forums. This is a great place to learn about chameleons. What time of the day was your baby veiled sleeping on your hand? Sleeping in the daytime is a sign of illness. At one month old I would recommend not handing very often. IMO that's to young to sale. I'm attaching my blog for new keepers. It's how I have kept my chameleons happy and healthy over the years.

Thanks,
I will check it out your page. He fell asleep towards the end of the day around 9-10pm. My Panther relaxed a little more after I settled him into his vivarium. My veiled chameleon started to Molt today even ate his dead skin. However he is eating fine though, both crickets and waxed worms.

Welcome to the forum. Listen to jannb she knows her stuff, and will help you get a great start with these little guys.

Are you sure the male veiled is a male I can't be positive from the angle of that shot but it looks female to me. See if it has little bumps, or spurs if you will on the back of it's rear feet. If it doesn't it is a female. And I would say it is around 3 months old as well possibly a little older. They both look very healthy, and beautiful. Thanks for sharing. :)

Her info is perfect and yes, Rango has little spurs on the back of his little legs, sort of like an extra thumb. That makes me feel a little better knowing they look healthy. It's all I'm aiming for. He turns lime green and once in a while those dark green colors pops up.

Did PETCO know he was a translucent or did you get him at the regular price. I saw a juvenile Emperor angelfish for the price of a Koran once. Which was less than half the price it should have been. Sometimes them not knowing what they are doing is an advantage. :D

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean when you say translucent. I paid regular price which was $60.00. I thought he was just a regular Veiled Chameleon. Gotta educate my self more about these awesome creatures.

He's got some almost "transparent" areas on his cask and feet. This is a trait that some people like, and these are called translucent veilds. They usually sell for more than regular veilds...

Thanks guys I read a lot about these guys in the past couple of days. They seem to be thriving. Wasn't too sure about my translucent veiled. It's pretty cool that Petco made that mistake of selling it to me for $60.
