I just purchased this adorable little panther chameleon for my son for Christmas! Of course, I will be helping to take care of it! I know that he will be anxious to find out the gender so that he can pick a name. Please help???

Thank you to all who contribute on this board! It has been a phenomenal resource when trying to learn as much as I can!

Looks female, and a tad thin. You're going to need to fatten her up a bit.
Are her urates mostly white? Maybe a little dehydrated too? It's nothing a little TLC won't take care of. If she eats a lot and still doesn't fatten up you should consider taking some fecal matter into a herp vet for possible parasites.
Where did you get her?

Thank you for your help! I received it from LLL reptile this morning. I have seen it eat a few crickets (and hand fed it 2). I also saw it drink a little right after a mist. I haven't seen any urates yet, I will watch. What does it mean if they are white? Is that good or bad? Anything else I should watch for?

I requested a male from LLL, but they said there is no guarantee. I was hoping to get some of your expert opinions =)

If they are white, that means that she is properly hydrated. When a chameleon becomes dehydrated, their urates will begin to turn orange in color. It's good that she is drinking and eating. Just make sure her humidity, UVB and temps are correct and I think she will grow like a weed. Congrats!
