Male Panther color...How can you really tell?

Good day all,

When choosing a young male panther, how can you really tell what their coloration will be? Understanding the region from which they come etc. there is regional mixing that occurs with some breeders, if you see a lovely bright red father, what are the odds that the youngsters will follow suit? I've seen clutch mates from my Chameleon totally different color patterns. My Cham is blues and greens with some red accents his brother is almost all red with some green accents.
Even since I've had him his colors have changed and developed so much he doesn't even look like his younger self.
