Mazuri better bug gut loading diet food

I was looking for a cheap way to feed both crickets and dubia roaches and I found Mazuri at Petco.

Let me tell y'all that this gut loading food is the best. I had a box of 1000 crickets and the survival rate of living crickets was high. Usually 1/3 of the crickets die after a week or so but not when I feed this food.

With this food the crickets didn't smell or die as fast. I also my feed mealworms and superworms this food.

On this food my dubia roaches and mealworms breed babies.

It's a little pricey and doesn't last long (crickets eat a lot) but its worth buying.

I used cricket quencher and still fed the bugs vegetable scraps with Mazuri.

I looked up the ingredients and they look terrible. I'd never feed my feeders that. Just because the insects are alive doesn't make it good gutload. Unless maybe I was reading the wrong ingredient list? I saw a few animal proteins and other things that have no place in a gutload.

No James you are right Mazuri bug gutload is filled with filler left and right and not even useful and healthy filler. I looked at it before in petco, never have since. I don't even buy Mazuri anymore for my tortoise I did once and it the all of a sudden the protein levels were too h igb and his shell was pyramiding. Made me so mad. I now only supplement with powders etc.

Well, it works for me! Mazuri not the only thing I feed my feeders but by using it the results I saw was that the feeders lived longer........

Feeders can live off dog food too, but guess what that leads to for the animal? Gout. If you want to go the easy route and feed garbage to your animals be my guest, but don't advertise for it as a good gutload(which you seem to not understand the meaning of).

Just as other gut loading products there will always be negative reviews....I will continue to use Mazuri but thanks for your input...Be Well

@Nelius the problem is your advertising something that isn't even gutload. I doubt you'll be back here because I can tell you're a person that can't handle being corrected, but for anyone else that reads this. Know that it is garbage insect feed and does nothing beneficial for our reptiles. Gutloading is feeding nutritious foods to our feeders prior to feeding off. We do this to pass on the nutrients from the food, not just to keep the insects alive. Considering this stuff mentioned here is pretty much the opposite of nutritious and can have long lasting negative effects on our animals, it wouldn't be considered gutload.

I almost wonder if OP works for their company? Anyone with half a brain would at least be capable of receiving advice, instead he sticks by his "gutload" claims and mentions negative reviews. It's not a review, it's a fact.

Some people on this website need to take a chill pill there is no rule book to this hobby.

@lostinspace23 actually there is. If he wants to do something proven to be unhealthy for his animals that's fine. I wont agree with it, but I wont blow him up for it. But advertising false and possibly dangerous information can lead newcomers the wrong way. This is a site for people serious about correct chameleon keeping afterall.

show me the rule book ? the book of law to this hobby please?

Rules don't have to be followed. But there is science backing up healthy and unhealthy practices. Please, if your capable, do a search on animal proteins and gout. Also I believe advertising incorrect information would go against the ethics of this site.

And instead of diverting this about people needing to chill, why don't you point out how we're wrong and stay on subject? You're simply telling me to chill, but aren't giving any reason for why this post might be beneficial. Please share your view on the subject at hand or don't post.

It really is unfortunate to me how frequently we see people ignoring reasonable, objectively good advice. The problem with mazuri is very cut and dry. While there is no literal rule book for chameleon keeping (I mean, come on, no one was even suggesting this in the first place), there are these liiiittle things called physiology and metabolism which dictate what should and should not be put in our chameleons' bodies. When people actively choose to continue a bad practice, why would we remain silent and become complacent in allowing someone to perpetuate a harmful practice?

Let's look at it another way. Chameleons require particular nutrients, which come from particular food products. Then you have to ask, "Does my gutload contain these essential nutrients?" If the answer is "NO," then one ought not use that particular gutload. Since mazuri does not contain the required nutrients, then it makes no sense to continue to use this product when there are other better products readily available, which have been name dropped in this thread. Sometimes it's better not to back down than to just "chill" when it comes to the lives of our reptiles.

I think it was more of his opinion he stated then advertising a product he has no benefits from advertising. also I said some people need to chill out, but if the shoe fits wear it.

Did you think this site was meant for something other than well-intentioned, good advice? You are the one who came in here with a bad attitude demanding people to chill. Sometimes users seem to be adverse to the truth and prefer to keep doing what they're doing, even though it is inadvisable. I do find it interesting that you are also the same person who ignored my comments regarding repashy in a different thread. We are not making moral accusations, but simply pointing out that there are better, widely agreed upon, options (which can be found in any reliable care sheet, the closest things we have to your aforementioned "rulebook").

Dont make up bs lies now. same as the other person saying hes advertising , like come on now, he is giving his opinion , not no advertising bs! Also I did not ignore youre opinion, I chose to continue on my path and look at different options on my own time and hear out way better advice. this is what i mean by this site is full of people stuck on a certain way and putting down everyone else who does not agree with there way. What you told me about repashy was about using it as a feeder and not a gut loader, so for one you probably did not know my situation , or what i was using it for , hence I moved on. so now that you wanna chirp in again your 2 cents, explain to me why repashy is a bad gut load ?

And to say I demanded people to chill again is someone taking a simple post and over exaggerating it to the maximum.
