Mean male veiled chameleon

I just bought two veiled chameleons from craigslist, make and female. The female is really nice and will climb on you and let you handle it. The owner before said that the male hissed bit never bit him. The day after I got them it bit me and my mom. if it's in the very back of the cage and you put your hand in the cage it will flare up and hiss. How can I get it to be nicer?

Just want to start of by saying welcome to the forums! There are a lot of experienced people here (much more so than I am) and will give you tons of great advice, so never be scared to ask a question.
You will have to give him time to adjust. He is very stressed out right now moving into a new home. It is best you leave him be for a couple of weeks. Try hand feeding him (using tongs or a cup) and let him get used to you that way...seeing you as a source of food is always a good thing. Soon he might try to climb on your hand while you feed him. It just takes patience. Not all chameleons are the same. Male veiled chams are typically devilish at times but they become tamer if you just work with them. Good luck to you and your new chameleons!

FYI you cannot house the male and female together in the same cage incase you did not know this. Some chameleons never take to handling. It is easier to handle them if you get them young and work with them over time. How old are they? Also, like the other member said he is going to be stressed out being in a new home and location. Give him some time to get used to things. If he is being aggressive right now, I would back off on the handling and let him settle in for a few weeks.

Absolutely. Don't judge the new male too quickly. Give him a bit of time to settle in and soon enough he'll probably take to forceps feeding, which is a great place to be with your cham. Good luck.

I know that my male veiled he is super friendly but when it comes to me grabbing him out of his cage that's a no he will hiss. He has never bit me never really tried either. I normally just open up his cage doors and he comes out willingly. The only time I force him out is when he needs a shower I have a stick I use to grab him with and he knows the stick so he normally just climbs right on it. But let him get use to his new environment he will one along patience is a virtue.
