so i got prescribes ceftmazide for my chameleon and directed to keep the medication in the freezer until use and to administer every 72 hours. What if i give the dose two days late and. i forgot one of the doses outside the freezer over night can i still use that? and if not would one dose short make a difference?

Contact whomever you received the prescription from to ask these questions. If it was the vet contact them if it was a compounding pharmacy or pharmacy contact them. All meds have different requirements for how to keep them. Some will go bad if not stored correctly. And depending on what you are treating yes, skipping a dose can make it less effective especially when you are dealing with any form of antibiotics.

thank you! i have another question so Ivy looks like her mouth is still like stringy saliva even tho i only have two doses of her anti biotic left. Is that supposed to be back to normal yet? they gave me like 8 doses in total

An infection usually takes longer to heal than the dosing. Even if all the visible signs of infection are gone, the fight in the body continues. It’s the same with humans. I have noticed that chameleons heal slowly which is why follow-up with the vets are so important.

This would mean a follow up appointment as already mentioned. Sometimes the antibiotic used is not effective enough to clear the entire infection so they will put them on a different one.
