Melleri Egg Laying!!

Well, folks, Newbie (prolific egg layer that most of you are familiar with) has aready passed on to the big tree in the sky but it seems she passed the torch....let's try this for the 4th time.....:D

One of my other females is digging as I write this. Unlike Newbie who refused to follow protocol when it came to gestation and egg-laying, this girl has gotten huge, went off feed a few days ago and was starting to "wander" yesterday.

I will post pictures and updates in a bit, I just don't want to disturb her right now.

Voting on how many she will lay?? Newbie's clutches were 76, 92 and 72 (and 60 that were not viable at the end). :D

Great News! Did she mate? So cool. Cheers!
I guess 47

She was one of my wild caughts I picked up a few months ago to add to the breeding colony. So, I'm hoping that these are viable. But, I'm guessing by her size, I would think so, but we will have to wait and take a look at them. You can generally tell by the size and shape of the egg. It is merely a great sign that she is egg-laying. But I do have a couple of huge males that would be more than happy to make any future eggs viable. ;)

Woohoo! I'm guessing 77!

Hope they are fertile, I want to see melleri babies! Oh and I want another baby too lol.

Fingers crossed!

My mellers has started to wander out of the free range I have set up. I think it may be a she. ;P we'll see. I wish they were easier to sex, these are my favorite type of chameleon.

Well since we are guessing, I turn 62:eek::eek::eek: today so my guess in 62. If I don't win do I still get a free one for my birthday?:rolleyes:

Good to hear you are still trying with the mellers, I was wondering where you dissapeared off to. Your meller breeding threads were my favourite!

The eggs have finally arrived!

47 big beautiful eggies laid Sunday afternoon!!

In true melleri egg-laying fashion in my household, despite having a fantastic laying bin in her enclosure, she chose to make her own burial site within a couple towels that I had on the bottom of her enclosure. Hey, at least she had the sense to know that these things are very precious and she wanted to be delicate with them. :D Would you believe that she even covered them over with the towel?? ;)

I thought for sure she would have laid more given her size, but I'm happy with this number because the eggs are the biggest and most perfect looking melleri eggs I've had yet!

Some pics for your viewing pleasure!!
