mist system vs. cool air humidifier

I am a newbie to chams. I have a ~8-9 month old male jacksons. I am currently hand misting and using a little dripper. Would a mist system or a cool air humidifier be best? Could a humidifier be put on a timer effectively? I am thinking forward to the times when I will be gone and using a petsitter. I need ease of use/maintenance, safety and do not want an elaborate drainage system needed.

Also, any feeder cup suggestions would help. I think I may be using too small of a cup. It is a one cup measure and is attached mid way up the cage to one of the vines. He has not used it. I would like to offer mealworms.

Thanks!

Misting is a necessity! Cool mist humidifiers are great for keeping humidity high, but do not provide the necessary water for them to survive. Even with a dripper, you should be misting several times a day. If I had to choose between the two, I would get a misting system, unfortunately that also means a drainage system. It does not have to be anything elaborate. I simply got a water tray from LLLreptile, drilled a small hole in one corner, and put a 7 gallon trash can under it. I have to empty the trash can every month or so. That's it. In all, the drainage system cost me about $30.

Thank you!

Of course, I have been checking out the mistking system. How wide is the spray pattern on the regular nozzle? Will one nozzle overspray outside of a 18x18x36 screen cage?

You may find that a combination of a humidifier and misting will work without creating as much drainage. The humidifier won't produce as much heavy dripping water, but will increase the level of water vapor held by the foliage. You may find that a couple of normal misting periods each day with some higher humidity cycles in between them will work. Just have to experiment to find out what works in your particular situation. And yes, you can easily control a humidifier with a multiple setting timer. I do it all the time.

You should also check out Aquazamp. I have a Jackson too and bought the aquazamp rain dome and my cham absolutely loves it. I have a ultrasonic cool mist humidifier in his cage as well, and we have the exact same size cage too.
Misting always had over spray in my cage. The rain dome changed that. Between the dome and humidifier, his cage is perfect now. We have a nice warm dry side, as well as a cool moist side with great peaks and drops in humidity with the raindome.
