mist vs. rain

Which one is better for a veiled cham: in-cage rain system or a misting system? Do you think your veiled prefers one over the other? Are there health benefits of either one or are they pretty much the same as long as they hydrate and keep humidity up.

I have a screen 4X2X2 cage with pleanty of drainage on the bottom.

"Rain" is a much more natural way to water a chameleon. They dont get misted in the wild they get rained on.

I found my chameleons (the 3 i had) drank and stayed hydrated much much better with rain. I have a mistking and made my own raindome like aquazamp sells. I highly suggest getting a raindome.

well when i mist my crestie i sometimes mist through the screen top and if you continuously do that, droplets will form, stimulating rain! :D

Help would be appreciated

I'm currently using a dripper and spray bottle. I would love to leave the dripper on but i currently dont have no drainage set up.
For my substrate All i use is newspaper.

Any suggestions on making some type of drainage system?? :p.
I have a zoo med reptibreeze.
:confused::confused::confused:

That's like asking what's better, drinking from a cup or drinking through a straw. The key is that the animal gets hydrated. Both work just fine. It's really your preference, chameleon will manage fine either way :)

i agree my chameleons dont care, if it moves its edible to them.

Do a search on the forum for drainage systems. Lots of different ideas. Basically, you just need a stand for the cage, with a hole in the bottom of the cage, lined up with a bin under the cage to catch all the water.

My cage has a removable solid bottom that I lined with a fish tank background and I drilled small holes in the bottom to let the water drain into a tray that fits on the bottom of my cage that I also drilled a hole with a bulkhead I attached a piece of tubing that runs under the stand through another hole drilled in the stand. The tubing runs into a bucket underneath that I empty

The best way to stimulate a drinking response is to use warm water.
Either misting or rain, no matter.

I like to nuke my spray bottle for 1 1/2 minutes. The chams dont mind being sprayed directly on them (cold water makes Smeagol run away), in fact, they like it and will sit there and enjoy a nice warm shower ;)
