it lets me set how often itll spray, and for how many seconds itll spray when i kicks on, also it has two sprayers so it covers alot of area... it has a 3 gallon resivoir and i use r/o water

question what do you all set your misting systems cycle for, how often and for how many seconds.. currently i have it set to turn on once a hour for 15 seconds...

thanks in advance....

p.s. also today i added my other dual 24" bulb light fixture to make sure my ficus tree has plenty of light...

so currently im running 4x brand new 24" reptisun 5.0 bulbs in the enclosure plus the heat light... my ficus will be loving it

Okay. Set ur mister for 2-3 minutes every 3-4 hours to let it dry inbetween. Important imo.
Hope that monsoon doesn't fail on u... Ive seen it too many times.. if it does break look into a mistking (personal fav) or aquazamp (both very recommended here)

And put three of those 5.0s away as extras. That's a little excessive and im not sure that much uvb is good. And its doing almost nothing for ur ficus.. get a 6500k light bulb.. that would help ur ficus..

Other than that nice enclouser and beautiful cham!

Don't want to dishearten you but keep your receipt. Keep fingers crossed you have a good one. It's a bit of a lottery!:D

Yes definatly look at a mistking starter kit. I bet its cheaper. U can use any resivoir u choose its just not as attractive. but ull be much happier with it. The. Return urs! Imo

ok ill get some plant bulbs inplace of some of the uvb bulbs, and ill give the misting system a test run, if i have any issues within a week ill return it...

thanks for the info

It is with great reluctance that I admit I got a Monsoon against this forum's advice, and it failed at 7 months. I had two instances of it dumping the whole tank because the timer failed. Last time it also burned out the motor. I'll look into MistKing, but also into a reliable hydroponics unit.

But your setup is awesome! Thanks for the pics

regarding the timer issues, I had the Monsoon for a while and noticed the same thing. BUT, if you just buy a wall timer, set it for what you need and THEN plug in the monsoon, it works like a champ. Mine only broke when a drunk friend sat on it. And by sit, I mean she missed the chair that was five feet away.

Hope your mister works out for you. Get a MistKing starter set for $99 next, if/when the Monsoon goes bad.

Also am concerned about having your lights inside your enclosure. Anyone have any issues with that, or am I missing something?

yeah +1 i did some research online and found this same fix, i bought a manual timer switch at walmart that does down to 15 minute minimum, set it all up and its been working perfect, when my new brinks timer kicks on the monsoon kicks on for its normal 120 seconds then the monsoon shuts off, and the timer kills all power in 13 more minutes, and the cycle keeps repeating, IMO all is well now, $5 item fixed it so far.... before i bought the monsoon i was going to take apart my aeroponics system and use its misting setup out of it but currently i like the monsoon way better for my cham enclosure. my aeroponics is way to high volume of a setup and id have had to dumb it down with a smaller pump and less misting nozzles...

guess it depends on how you do it, but ive had my cham enclosure like this for over 3 years without my cham being burned, not even once... everyone always asks about this but i can physically grab my heat light fixture and its hot but it doesnt burn me, and i can hold my hand on it for as long as i wish, end result though like i said no issues with it burning my cham for over 3 years now...

on a side note i pulled out a couple uvb bulbs and installed plant bulbs to keep my ficus growning well...

My concern here is that the lighting fixtures are in the cage. I'd place them on top. It will be much safer for the chameleon if they are not inside of the cage.

If your Monsoon decides to fail on you, you can trust the American Made AquaZamp RainDome systems to work for many years flawlessly. Hundreds of customers can attest.

Has anyone ever tried a fogger vs a misting system. I have a Graceful and altho it's not a problem for me to mist throughout the day. I want whats best for my cham. The shop pushed the fogger but I decided to wait 48 hours till I could search a few forums first.

Foggers do very little in a screen cage enclosure. Unless you have a small enclosed space, they aren't as good. If you have a large fogger and are in a closed room, it could work. For drinking it is best to have a dripper or rain device.

well guys its been over 2 months and the mister is working like it was brand new, all i did was add a timer to the waljack, right off the bat, for it to run off of.....

for the money i still stand with my original statement of this specific model being the best thing for me personally to have gotten out of all the choices available....

only time will tell, but so far so good, and loving the freedom its given me....:) and i know my cham is loving a proper schedule of misting

That's great. You got a good one. You used an external timer? If so how do you bypass built in timer? I still have a new one but the timer is not reliable so I have it as a spare.:D

He means that he has a powerstrip timer that turns the Monsoon off at night while the Cham sleeps. The powerstrip timer put power back to the Monsoon in the morning and then it runs the Monsoon's timer/cycle as normal during the day.

I have the same set-up on my ExoTerra for my Geckos and its been great for the past 6 months (just dont let it run dry).. I have to admit that the luxury of not having to worry about misting is great (especially going from hand misting).

Here is mine. I also find that it produces the best "mist" when using less nozzles. If you are going to be running more than 2 nozzles i'd say invest in a a system with a better/more powerful pump like AquaZamp or MistKing

Thanks. I gave up and have a mistking, but it's good to know if I have to use it.:)
