MistKing and Hard Water Deposits on Glass?

So currently Oscar is in a 18x18x24in glass cage, with a vent in the front and a screen lid. I'm wanting to get a MistKing for his cage, but I don't want the hard water deposits it will leave on the glass. Is there a way to avoid the Hard Water Deposits on the glass with a MistKing? I know you can clean them off with vinegar and a razor blade, but I don't want to have to do that all the time.

As I mentioned in your other post you can use distilled water in the system. Won't get hard water spots and your nozzles will last longer

Or, if you have a source for reverse osmosis filtered water it will work just about as well as distilled. Better in fact as it still has trace amounts of its normal mineral content...just not enough to leave spots, clog systems, mister nozzles, or hurt ultrasonics. There are some less expensive RO filter systems you can install under a sink that might be worth it if you are using a lot of water every day. I've used one for many years.

You can buy jugs of distilled water and RO water at drug stores.. I think even walmart carries them.. They are not the same as natural spring water, that stuff will leave spots

I don't have a source of reverse osmosis water.

Quick question. Is distilled water ok for the chams main drinking source? I know with some other reptiles people recommend spring water over distilled due to it having some minerals in it still.

I wouldnt recommend distilled water as it is not intended for drinking. It does not have any trace minerals.

From what I understand that is correct for mammals such as us. Reptiles on the other hand drink rain water in the wild and this is especially so for arboreal reptiles such as chameleons. People have used distilled water for chameleons for a long time and if you are supplementing right there shouldn't be any issues

Yes, I think for the most part use of distilled water for drinking is being shown to not be that bad even in humans, I guess my aversion to it comes from having frogs and its always a big no no. But yes, they should be getting plenty of minerals from their food and supplements. Personally I would rather use filtered or RO water. You never know, research could come out stating that the water with minerals is bad for them. Its all really just trying to do whats best and use your best judgement.
