Hello to all of my fellow chameleon keeper's, I was looking into buying 1 of these controllers for my setup.Does anyone here have any experience with this controller vs the seconds timer?Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Sorry - I only have the timer model.

For an wet or damp environment that truly needs stable humidity, this would be a good piece of equipment. For chameleons, the cage needs to be allowed to dry out between mistings, so you have to balance that with trying to keep humidity at a decent level.with higher spikes. I would worry this would keep the cage too wet.

I have the hygrostat, and @Lathis has the same worry I had. But its actually a great piece of equipment. If you work your misting schedule out right with the right amount of live plants, your humidity wont really drop all that low. Mine is set to go off it gets lower than 50% which is literally never so its only a safety measure. The cage dries out fine with three scheduled mistings

Cool! Makes me think about upgrading now.

So... not trying to hijack, but i just got my mistking(haven't finished my cage yet though been busy) and i ordered the hygrostat controller because it was only like 20$ more(can't remember) and i figured it did the same thing, but just had a probe for temp/humid? Now i'm concerned i got the wrong thing lol. Once i have mine set up though i will share my thoughts on it, i am fairly new to chams and automatic misting though so hopefully someone else shares their experiences.

I bought this as well thinking the samw thing. Did you ever figure out the hygrostat? I had just ordered mine and recieved it last week but I also thought it was a seconds timer built in! I can not figure out how to program the seconds timer.

Hey no i haven't, i've been slowly finishing up my cage, haven't got around to the controller yet. I'm still landscaping my cage with 'great stuff' foam and getting plants, all that fun stuff. I hope to be getting around to it soon though. If you happen to find out Please let me know lol, and if i get to it before then i'll message you.

I am doing the same and now just waiting for my repeat cycle timer to show up. we will be bringing a little guy home on the 18th or 19th of november! what I did find out is that the hgyrostate only measures humidity anf temp. however if you set your cage to, say 50% humidity and it drops below that it will activate the misting system until it reachest the desired 50% humidity again. I'm disappointed that it is not a seconds timer as well like it was advertised on the box. you live you learn ans I am trying to get a hold of mistking to return it but I am not getting a respons to my emails and it's been almost a week... are you using a glass or screen cage?

Yeah i haven't even tried to message them yet, i guess i should. I have the clearsided dragon strand atrium. It is solid on the front and right side, screen on the top and left side. Read that it has as good of ventilation as an all around screen cage, but with better viewing and keeps the misting from leaving the cage.

Cool, we decided to go with a glass cage since we live in las vegas and it's very dry. I haven't had any issues with mold or poor ventilation. we bough the zoo med skyscraper terrarium

I know this is a little late, would you need to cut a hole in the cage to install the probe. I've just got mine and I was just asking before I do anything wrong.
