MistKing vs Climist.....thoughts?

At some point we might as well start talking about which motor oil is the best :)

To sum up the thread, both are very good units. If you loose a pump on either unit, its going to cost $100 retail to fix. I might even bet that the base pump on both systems are the same, just the power supplies are different. Its hard to tell since they slap their brand label on them. neither look like Auquatec's, which are the gold standard.

Just got my mistking in January and i love it .the st-24 timer is easy to operate and set up .i really appreciate how you can make adjustments and and turn the system on or off with out getting on the floor

EXACTLY! this convenience is worth the extra $10 (in my case when I was shopping for them)

So a Climate is way worse than a MistKing in your opinion.......

Either way, it's a substantial amount of money for something you can do with a spray bottle if you're home....

Way better? No. Even a little better is subjective based on your expectations and requirements.

Mistking and Climist are the same pump. You get different timers. The timer I have with my climist works just fine I don't need a digital one. As for this being something you can just do with a spray bottle at home, that's completely false. People don't stand there and spray for 5 to 7 minutes three times a day and the spray that comes out of a spray bottle is not nearly as fine of a mist as what comes out of the pump

Someone said the Climist has a 120VAC pump. Not true? That's what I had heard but you got me second guessing myself now. I tend to agree with your comments about hand misting in general, but I will say this, if I hand misted for 3 minutes in the morning (7am) in my terrariums the humidity would rocket to over 90%. I would come back around 1pm and the humidity is still at 80+ percent. I had to hand mist twice a day for literally a minute or two to keep the humidity down to the high 70's. When I fist got my Mist King, I misted 3 times a day for only 30 seconds. My breeder strongly suggested that my Cham needed more so I had to add a fan in the bottom to dry out the air. I now mist 4 times a day for about 1 minute each time. The humidity spikes to 80+ percent , but drops down to room temp over the next few hours before the next misting. So yes, some people may be able to do this at home with a spray bottle, but not me. I work M-F so I can only play with this stuff on weekends. I need the automation. But if I was a stay at home person, I could easily do this with a spray bottle.

Both systems use almost if not the same pump. The only difference is the power supply and the timer. The mistking uses 2 switchmode power supplies that plug into the timer and the timer feeds the 24v to the pump. The climist uses a generic 120vac timer that the 24v analog power supply plugs into, that runs the pump.

So in theory both system, with a bit of soldering, could have their pumps replaced with generic parts.

Misting isn't just about increasing humidity. They need long mistings to clean their eyes and 30 sec to a minute doesn't work

An automatic mister makes more sense I'm not going to put one let alone 4 chameleons into the shower everyday just so they can clean their eyes. Plus the mister does a better job
I was joking....

I agree %100 and also sum chams like mine will only drink after being prompted by a longer misting
I must be lucky. I can mist for 30 seconds and he's there drinking within seconds. I have lots of short video's of him doing this.

I really wasn't aware of the cleaning the eyes, but I can't mist much more than 1 minute as I have standing water with even just 60 seconds. Do Chams wash their eyes every day?

Sorry sometimes I'm very literal and things can be lost in translation especially on the internet.

My panther does I don't know if everyone does but I would think so
