It seems like there are a lotta new babys at the moment!!

Anyhow last night we had our first 2 baby veiled chams poke their head out of the eggs. I got up this morning and they are both just chillin with their heads poking out.

How long do they normally sit like this before fully emerging as they have been like that for approx 12 hours now??

I have read they generally finish off the yolk sack before fully hatching??

Thay have hatched exactly 2 days away from 8 mths at temps of 74 - 76 however I have increased the heat to 78 in the last week with slightly more moisture. I am assuming they will be strong babies with incubating for the whole 8 mths??

I will get some pics up asap!!

How exciting!!! :D

Congratz Yes we have veileds too this is first time raising from hatchlings but the mother was not much older when i got her.Anyway i'm rambling ,sorry it's my excitment i guess anyway gratz and good luck with em.

They can sit in the eggs for 24+ hours absorbing the yolk sac-they will be out and eating you out of house and home soon enough!

Hey thanks, Likewise!!

Yeah I know what you mean with the exitement as its been a long 8 mths waiting patiently for these babies to come!!

Have you got yours on plastic branches on the ground or have you got the branches a foot or so from the ground? I am paranoid they will fall off and damage their limbs etc??

Cheers

I raised mine in plastic rubbermaid storage bins. The bins were about 12" deep. At about 4 weeks old they started to escape, that's when I moved them to a screened enclosure that is about 20" tall. And yes, they were on plastic plants for this stage of their lives.
