So today was Morpheus big day (Vet trip and fecal), best part about it was I just got a call from the vet and it was clean! I completely did not see that one coming since he is WC! However the vet still recommended I do the treatment of Panacur and Metranidazole? If anyone could give any insight to that it'd be great, cuz why treat if there was nothing there? Could he still have parasites if they didnt see anything? His exam went well too, other than the fact he was a little skinny (98g) she could not find any skin parasites(the ones underneath the skin) and no dehydration.

Aside from the visit he is doing very well. He somehow managed to escape his box on the way there too, I was just driving along and the next thing i knew he was climbing my arm up to my head! He was showing some amazing color on the ride there and while sitting in the office. I do not think he is a nosy be anymore with the color he was showing (blue w/ yellow/neon green and red speckling. He looked very similar to all the Nosy Komba pictures I have found. But im not going to say he is til he's 100%. So here he is sitting at the office with me, this picture does NO justice representing the greens and yellow he was showing.

I have no idea why they would prescribe that...as a preventative for household parasites...?¿?¿?
Where and what vet did you take him to?

Thanks! I took him to Jennifer Periat @ Parkway exotic vet and animal hospital. Its in Clinton Twp. They seem to really know their stuff there, and she seemed to know ALOT about chams. She knows a few breeders in Florida too but she never mentioned which ones. I've only had him for about a week now. I really didnt want to take him in but they required an exam before prescribing anything for parasites.

I know they always recommend two fecals, as parasites may be in a life cycle stage that is inconducive to catching (e.g., a fecal float test is very good for eggs, but not so reliable for parasites that have hatched). That might be her thinking, but she sounds like a good vet, and one who would explain the reasoning if you asked. If you feel the need for a second opinion, I can recommend a good chameleon vet in Williamston (east of Lansing), but it sounds like you're in good hands where you are.
And he's a handsome cham; congrats!

Thanks! When they called with the results they said they didnt find any eggs, so they must have done a float. I have heard good things about that vet in Williamston, and was my next stop if I could not find any with cham experience locally. Williamston is only about an hour from me so that isnt too far. Have you been there?

Thanks Stan Nosy Komba is a small island between Nosy Be and Ankify I believe. The locale seems similar to nosy be and ambanja in some ways. There is much debate over this but there are some pretty obvious differences. If you do a search here you can find some pics of some imported by a member called redisland. I wish I had a better camera to show him at his best.

Did the vet say why she wanted to treat with a de-wormer and an antibiotic if there are no parasites or infection? I personally would treat something that isn't there but maybe your vet can further explain ... a second fecal test at a later date is a good idea.

??? She did not. But the way this ended up the way it did is... I left the house without the stool (silly me) and when i got there i told her i would drop it off before they closed. I explained to her how the stool looked (very runny/watery, no sight of worms) and she said she would prescribe said medicine. So i went home, went back and dropped off the stool. Soon as I got home they called with the results.. I asked if I still needed to treat and the lady hesitantly said yeah, and If the vet didnt want me to treat they would call and let me know. I never got a call back saying no.. So I dont know what to do, Im guessing no and just take a second fecal back in a couple of weeks?

Metranidazole is an antibiotic. I'm not sure what that is meant to help with. At least you have the meds if needed.

No ... the chameleon I was treating had infection from a wound that was left untreated and spread (before I acquired him). He ended up not making it. He was a melleri and had two infected feet as well as the scallops that run down their back - all filled with infection and swollen and had to be cleaned out daily.

He had also been on baytril and another antibiotic but I can't remember the name. He was in quite bad shape and the infection had seriously spread. I don't know that the Metranidazole was a good choice but nothing else worked either.

3-4 hrs old... I caught him doing it a couple hours before leaving, it never even hit the cage floor

I would still say thats not a good fecal test.. I do my own and get the vet to check if I find something. and I have noticed that most stuff that showes up in the test only do for the fist hour or two tops after the stool is droped.JMO.
I had a wc test clean 4 days in a row and it was becaues the stool was more then 2 hours old. I tested him a hour after stool was droped and he was loaded with worms and coccidia.
Just somthing to think about you dont want to spread these parasites to the rest of your house plant or chams.
