Mouth open no infection

I caught my Cham with his mouth open. His basking is only 85 and it happened twice only there. When I took him out he had no abnormal breathing, bubbles or stringy spit so not and infection. Shout I just raise his lights a few inches higher? The only thing that has changed is that I've been giving him hornworms. That can't cause anything though. I've also been administering Reptaid for a few weeks so he couldn't have gotten a respiratory infection because of boosted immune system.

I'm also interested in this too as one of my guys also basks with his mouth open. I don't a a thermometer in the tanks as I haven't been able to find one here yet. The basking light bulb is about 8.5 inches away.

Looking forward to what others say.

If he's only doing it immediately under the heat lamp and everything else about him is normal then he is probably just self regulating his body temperature. If you start to see him do it in other areas of the cage have him checked by a reptile veterinarian.

Under General Discussion there's a great thread called Odd Behavior which speaks all about this. Currently it's on the second page in General Discussion. Seems like it's normal and about heat regulation.
