Moving 21hrs with three male panthers

In a few months I will be moving around 21hrs away from wear I currently live. I contacted the shop I bought two of my adult panthers chameleon from. What they recommended was water them heavily the night before. On the morning of the move, place them in a critter keeper with a place to perch and some type of heavily moistened substrate on the bottom. Then create a dark spot for them for them to travel in.
My concern is that it is such a long drive I will most likely have to stop over night for my two kids. So I would leave one day and arrive the next. I'm worried due to the fact they will have to travel along time without heat, being in a small enclosure for a long period, and probably not drinking much, if not at all because of the traveling. I'm hopping to be able to pull some advice from some of you who may have or who may have some ideas or concerns.
Thank you all for your time
Zach

I really think it should be fine. Panther chameleons are much stronger than most people would like to think. Only if they were small babies I would worry about dehydration.

Sorry I can't figure out how to rotate the image. This guy like to get off his perch and chase food.

This guy still has not developed all his color yet.
Thank you anz567 for the reply. This is something I have never had to do before so I'm glade to hear that they should be fine.

I'm not sure who posted it but I remember a move where the person put a basking and heat lamp and at least two chameleons in the bathroom of the hotel when they stopped for the night - I think she used the zip up laundry baskets and hung them in the shower - they were watered and fed - stayed up the night and were ready to travel in the morning in their smaller boxes.

Yes I am the guilty party I reversed day and nights for the trip. We were in the road from southern CA to Northern Montana. I used shipping boxes for day travel and let them sleep. At night when we were at the hotels the chams were set up in the bathroom. They had UVB, warmth, water and food. All make the trip with no problem. I traveled with I think it was 8 chams. You can get the mesh laundry hampers at the dollar store. They do not have tops so I used several big clips top hold the top shut. If I did it today I would use butterfly cages. You can order them from Monarch.com. they are a pop up full zipper cage. Nothing gets out of them. I know people wondered in every hotel we were in how the crickets got lose in our room.:)

Thank you every one for the help. Everything you guys and gals posted was very usefull. I'll be buying butter fly cages tonight to hang in the hotel. I feel a lot better being able to water and warm them up a little during the transit. Plus it would be fun to let the kids raise butterfly's once the move is over.

They are also great for when you get there before you unpack their regular cages - and to use outside when it's warmer -

Yes I am the guilty party
I was 99.9% sure it was you but I couldn't find the thread for the other .01%
by the time I found it you had posted- I do wish there was a picture of you bringing 8 chameleons into the Vegas hotel with the post.

As it was they were less than happy. But they did not have the guts to challenge me as I am in the high roller club (i was there 1 month a year for work). I think pictures might have put them over the edge.
